This was good and well deserving of the hype it has received.
It is a reticent mystery twisted up in the web of lies and judgments of a small town before a high school senior uses her senior project as a catalyst for hunting down the truth and exposing everyone who is at fault for wrongdoings revolving around the crimes against two students five years prior.
Grab your pins and red string to see if you can solve it before Pip does! I didn't
3⭐
A quick & spooky little story! Darcy Coates really is Goosebumps for grown-ups!
This one especially so..since it follows a teen girl and her younger brother who go off to stay with some eSTRANGEd grandparents.
Hey @AnneCecilie @PageShifter
Unfortunately, the #readingthroughtheeras post didn't get enough people interested to continue on with the challenge. 🥲
Since both of you showed some interest, he are the prompts I had planned for the Debut Era.
This will sadly be the last post for the challenge but I appreciate both of you for your support! Happy reading!
DNF at 75pgs
I skimmed the remainder of the book and read some spoiler reviews....I think DNF was def the right choice here!
I wanted to like this so much more than I did!
Florida is the best written character in this book..just saying!

I read this in one day!
This series is so much fun!
A reverse harem cozy, bookshop murder mystery with loveable characters that live in a charming English village.
4.5⭐
Imagine a job at an old bookshop in England where you work alongside (and fall into a love triangle with..) Moriarty from Sherlock and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights...and someone just happens to be murdered and you have to set out to find who did it to clear your name!
Poe's Raven is a character, too!
💀🐦⬛
Sound appealing? If so pick this up! It's a cozy bookish mystery, with a spicy romance mixed in, great banter, and a feisty FMC!
It was a box filler month! These all sound so great!
Phantasma was one of my most anticipated reads of 2024..so HOORAY! 🎊

A book and a matcha latte is a winning combination. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Happiest of Saturdays to you all!

I really enjoyed the ride that this book takes you on through resurrection (lots of spooky stuff!), Indian mythology (I googled a TON and learned so much!), and the bonds that siblings share, as well as the bonds that we carry with us from one life to the next.
It was heartwarming, fear inducing, and inspiring.
Another home run from the #whimsicalreadsbookclub 👏🏼
I really need the next book NOW!! What is that cliffhanger?!! 👿
4⭐
This was a very fun cat and mouse game between a witch in hiding and a witch hunter set on bringing her to justice. It's full of complex characters with complicated motives and a heart pounding love triangle. The lines between good and bad are very blurred making you question who to trust. The ending moved at a breakneck pace leaving me sitting here impatiently waiting for book 2!
Well...well...well.. I've read zero of the 100 books on this list 😯
So there's that.. but to be honest, these are the only ones that I'm mildly interested in 🤷♀️
At face value this list felt verrryyyy heavy. 👀
What can I say...heavy and emotional books spook me. 😅
I mostly read for happiness and entertainment 🌞 I like to stay comfortably in my fantasy worlds 🙃
My library hold finally came in! Starting this right away!!
My #bookoutlet $5.99 fiction #bookhaul two seconds before I dropped them all! 🙊 whoops! No books were harmed in the taking of this picture 🌝
What on earth do I start with!?
Taking a different approach to #bookspin July. 🙃
I'm a little behind on the #52bookclub24 challenge, so I have listed some of the prompts that I have remaining for BookSpin next month!
I am also the definition of a mood reader no matter how many times I try to force a fixed TBR onto myself ((😅)), so this gives me some wiggle room to move around and choose something that fits the current vibes I'm in at the moment 😎
@TheAromaofBooks
Having a lovely afternoon of reading for me and tiny pool time for B.
🔆😎
this book is soooo good!
🌩️⛈️🌩️⛈️🌩️
A big thunderstorm is brewing outside and I'm tucked up in bed starting this veryyy anticipated fantasy series. A perfect day!
I oftentimes read completed book series and miss out on all the new release hype.
Book 2 for this series releases July 4 and I already have the special edition preordered..so what better time than now to read this! 🙂↕️
Here's hoping this lives up to the immense hype surrounding it 🫣🤞((i'm scared))

When I went into this I couldn't understand all the low ratings but as I read it made more sense. If you go into this expecting a twisty, edge of your seat thriller.. you're not going to get it. This is slow and drawn out and focuses more on the individual women's lives than the mystery at the center. Treat this as a literary women's fiction/historical fiction (Art & Jewish) with a dash of mystery in the background. If so, it's very enjoyable!
3.75⭐
Maybe I'm reading too many thrillers...but I guessed every twist in this story, and there were several.
This was enjoyable and fast paced but had a little too much going on all at once.
The mystery surrounding a nurse's ICU patient intertwined with assaults on women happening while the assailant remains unknown feels like two stories in one making the book feel overstuffed and the MCs actions questionable.
#bookspin & #doublebookspin 😆
Both are perfect summer reads! Already started Dark Shores! 🏴☠️

4.5⭐
This was a lot of fun! So much so I read it in two days!
Veryyy 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' vibes but also a very different story overall. A perfect YA summer thriller/horror/slasher and just what I needed to dig myself out of the reading rut that I've been in! 👏👏👏
I'll be checking out more Preston from the library soon!
🏞️🛻⛰️
I almost skipped for the first time in my three years of being a #botm member.
June's picks were just not appealing to me.
I'm happy they offer older member faves as a secondary option and I went with the tagged as my main choice so that I could get the Ware as an add on.
I went to college for art history so the premise of Anita intrigues me. The 90s setting and reviewers mentioning themes of potential witchcraft sold me.
Ooof!
I'm not marking this as a bail. I fully intend on picking it up at a later date (maybe in the Fall) but I have tried all month long to read this one and I'm calling it quits at 34% 😥
It has everything I love..
⚫Bridgerton time period
⚫Vampires!
⚫Creepy New Orleans setting
⚫A feisty female lead
⚫A phenomenal audio narrator
⚫Murder mystery!
...but it is just so painstakingly slow!! The writing is beautiful but very flowery and wordy. 🫠
5🌟
As you can probably guess by how much I tabbed this book..I absolutely loved it!!!
You like Throne of Glass? Read this.
I love the Throne of Glass series but did not care much at all for book 1. Red Queen blew Throne of Glass out of the water!! It's like a whole entire fantasy series in 383pgs. I have no idea where this series is going to go from here but I cannot wait to read it!
👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
June #bookspin is all ready to go!
Now I just need to work on finishing May's pick!! 😜
@TheAromaofBooks
Currently *~o b s e s s e d~*...with this book
can't.
stop.
reading.
🩸👑🩸
Should I be starting a new series whilst in the middle of so many others?
-
nope.
-
Am I going to anyway?
-
yupp.

Okay, okay..I get the Abby Jimenez hype now!
🌃🦝🐐🐖
These characters are so lovely that you can't help but root for them to get their happily ever after.
I struggled a bit with this one because I read this right after Emily Henry's Book Lovers which had similar city/country vibes. Emily Henry is romcom royalty so Jimenez was at a bit of an unfair disadvantage 😬
✨I loved the magical realism elements of this though! ✨
5🌟
Emily Henry's books are perfect. I read through them with a constant smirk on my face and the occasional tear. She nails snarky banter and can accurately depict the littlest moments that make a relationship, like the lingering warmth from a kiss on a forehead or the feeling of a heartbeat through a wool sweater. She gives the same giddy happiness as Gilmore Girls. Her characters always stay with me long after the book is over 💖
#bookspin and #doublebookspin !! 😆
I am very excited for both of these! Can't wait to get started!
Thank you @TheAromaofBooks
My #aardvark choice for May! @AardvarkBookClub
Goats! Ghosts! AND a hot farmer guy!!?
I couldn't pass this one up..
👻 🔮 🐐
My current #audiocrochet project and my May #BOTM choices! 😀
When I heard that there was a baby goat in a sweater in Part of Your World, I couldn't pass it up!
@TheAromaofBooks would you kindly add me to the #bookspin list for May? Please, and thank you!
I can't wait to see what numbers are pulled!
😀
2.5⭐
Maybe it's me..but I am so tired of mediocre thrillers. I spotted the twists in this one from a mile away. They were so obvious!
The podcast element that lured me into this story was lacking and maybe I should have never read this book at all knowing the synopsis, but the whole influencer angle is getting so old. A bunch of completely unlikeable people at the center of a mystery that I couldn't care less about.
I also found the MC grating.
It is the most perfect weather to sit outside and start a new book today! 🌞😎 How could I not?
Happy Earth Day, friends! I hope you have the chance to enjoy something beautiful today. 🌼
💚🌎💙
I've been slacking on my #52bookclub24 challenge tracking lately.. 🫢
Here's where I currently stand at 12 books read for the year! My last three additions were:
📙No One Can Know by K. Marshall for 3. More Than 40 Chaps
📘You Can Trust Me by K Modglin for 7. Four POVs
📗The Tainted Cup by RJB for 36. Futuristic Technology
3.5⭐
Not as good as Marshall's What Lies in the Woods. This kept me engaged but the ending wasn't very satisfying, just chaotic and confusing. 😵💫
I never cared for any of the characters and most of them were pretty terrible. When you're not rooting for anyone do you really even care about the outcome? Meh.
3.5⭐
Two couples board a cruise ship only to find out one member of the group disappeared in the night. What happened to them?
What I liked..
- locked room cruise setting
- multiple POVs
- short book/gets right to the point
What I didn't like..
- the obscure plot twists and family drama
- very convenient coincidences
Overall..could have been better. Should I give Kiersten Modglin another go? Which book is her best?
Doing a little bit of #audiocrochet in the car!
This sweater is working up quite nicely 👍
❇️❇️❇️
This book is wonderful. I had forgotten how much I love Will Herondale 😍
..annnndd my #aardvark choices for April!!
I just couldn't resist 😁
@AardvarkBookClub
#botm is live, friends!

It was a box filler month for me! 💃💃💃💃
