I surprisingly loved this. I normally stay away from "teen dramas" but the storyline had me hooked from page 1. I am however slightly fuzzy regarding the ending in terms of whether or not she really died or what. However, I found the story overall to be very relatable in some aspects and I enjoyed how personal it was for the main characters. Can't wait for the movie!
Saw Fantastic Beasts yesterday (and Moana) ((both were INCREDIBLE)) but suffice to say, I was utterly mesmerized by Frank the Thunderbird so I whipped up a little fan art! Go see the film if you haven't yet! And happy Thanksgiving :) #FantasticBeasts
I'm 2 chapters in and here are my thoughts: 2/3 of the triplets were somehow mixed up. Katharine is not really a poisoner, but a naturalist who has built up SOME tolerance to poisons over the last 16 years, and her familiar is sweetheart, and Arsinoe is the poisoner living in a naturalist world. I mean, hello. Arsine. Arsinoe. Cmon. I'll be mad if I'm wrong.
That nerdy moment when you're halfway done with 6/7 seasons of Gilmore Girls and 3/4 done with the Dream thieves and can't help but associate Logan with Gansey, Jess with Ronan, Dean with Adam, and Marty with Noah.
This came in the mail today! I'd be lying if I said I didn't mainly buy this for the cover art... but the story sounds good too! Also coming in the mail this week is The Thousandth Floor, and the Grisha Trilogy box set. Can't wait 😈😈😈
So I started this last night and I know it's in pre production with talks of Emma Watson playing Kelsea, but kelsea is also described as having dark features and looking nothing like her blonde statuesque mother. I was kind of hoping they'd cast a POC, because that's how I'm picturing her. Regardless, I love Emma and I'm loving the story.
"By telling you anything at all I'm at least believing in you, I believe you're there, I believe you into being. Because I'm telling you this story I will your existence. I tell, therefore you are."
Wow.
Friends!! The illustrated HP & TCOS is currently only $20 on the Barnes & Noble website! They're providing a free 20% coupon on top of the online price in case anyone was interested in adding to their collection. It's the cheapest I've seen it anywhere, so I just snagged my copy. Happy bargain shopping!
It's inktober this month, so it felt wrong NOT to doodle my favorite fellow ravenclaw✨💕 I'll be posting it on my instagram later today but I wanted to share it with my fellow bookworms first 😊
Barnes & Noble recently came out with new bonded leather "children's" classics, and this double feature was one of them! Retailed at $25 (I got an employee discount) but I just couldn't help my self. Silverstein is a gift to humankind ???
I DIED during the kiss scene between Noah and Blue. I love every time they're together AND I WANT THEM TO BE TOGETHER
I saw this at a bookstore the other day and it sounds like something I really wanna read HOWEVER while thumbing through the pages I noticed a lot of footnotes. Idk why but that kinda turns me off from it. Thoughts?
I'm on chapter 21. Slightly bored but I'm gonna keep going because I'm enjoying all the creepy little elements. This would definitely work better as a graphic novel in my opinion.
My bookcase got a serious upgrade today! I haven't had time to read much these last two weeks bc school started back up but I'm slowly making my way through Carrie by Stephen King. Also, I tagged the host as my featured book bc it's currently available in hardcover in the bargain section of my local B&N for $6 and I have enough room for an extra copy. Decisions, decisions.
Guess who bought $30 worth of books today for $15? I'll give you a hint. It was me. Guess who's never read a Stephen King book before? I'll give you a hint; that is also me. Guess who is in the middle of reading one too many books but plans on starting either Carrie of FDNS tonight? I'll give you one last hint; it's me. Again.
That kill me moment when your dog gets spooked and leaps off your bed knocking over your nightstand with your brand new lit candle and the book you can't seem to finish, spilling wax EVERYWHERE and leaving a gaping hole in the candle you just got not even 3 hours ago. Good times. She's lucky she's cute. Even if I can't open the book because it now has its own special wax seal.
So this was my first uppercase box. I enjoy book box subscriptions because I enjoy bookish novelty items and new books. This book is not something I would EVER have picked for myself, but I'll shelve it next to my Kiera Cass books. I don't think I'll be subscribing to uppercase again, bc as much as I loved their previous boxes/box contents, I don't love the contents in this one; they're just not worth the price, signed book or not.
When you and your best friend just finished watching season 2 of outlander and are now determined to not only read all the books, but find boyfriends as charming and handsome as Jamie Fraser over the course of the next year as well. @carlyheath
Hi friends. This is driving me NUTS. But how am I supposed to pronounce Aglionby? If I'm even spelling it right. Thanks, much appreciated 😂
Literally got chills when I read about what/who Noah is/was. I'm normally good at predicting what's gonna happen and I'm so happy I didn't see it coming. Excited to see where it goes.
The best email I've received all day. This will be my first uppercase box, and I hope I like it! Also, I'm currently halfway through The Raven Boys. It's a slower read than I'm used to, but I'm enjoying the story!
2 new candles to add to my HP collection. They're probably the best smelling candles I've ordered from etsy yet, and the packaging is wicked awesome too. (Confetti and packing peanuts galore). I got mine from TheCandleCrate. Grimmauld place smells like fig, Mrs. Weasley's kitchen smells like salted caramel apples :)
So I was watching Crimson Peak the other day and couldn't figure out why it seemed so familiar! I realized it reminded me a ton of the short story "A Lady's Hands are Cold" by Emily Carroll. Through the Woods is a great collection of illustrated horror stories and I highly recommend it. My favorite reading-visual ? especially for fall ??
My collection got a serious upgrade today. The box set is retailed at $80, I got it for $25, used in "like new" condition and eligible for Amazon Prime. Can't wait to reread them to see if 20 year old Tiana and 13 year old Tiana have similar book tastes ?
So I've been reading this more than anything lately and despite being really slow I'm really enjoying it. I'm halfway through and It's unlike anything I've read before. The sense of adventure and mystery is so well written. I just hope there's no love triangle 😅
So because I work for B&N, we get dibs on things like disposable posters. Well after the midnight release of HP&theCC, these were headed to the trash. My manager said I could have them and I've been cutting them my best into bookmarks! Gonna have them laminated at staples. I also snagged the GIANT version of this poster. That's getting cut up too and going on my wall :)
Gonna keep this straight to the point. I didn't see the relevance/necessity of Delphi. I'm highly disappointed that Teddy Lupin isn't mentioned at all. Polyjuice potion takes about 3 months to make & they talk about making it in a night. I adore Scorpius. bc it's a play the character development progresses in the worst way. Wish it was a thick, detailed novel. Beggars can't be choosers though.
Not really any spoilers, but I'm about 1/4 of the way done and I saw someone describe it as fan fiction and that's honestly what I'm getting from it. Not loving it, not hating it, just kinda taking it for what it is at this point. I do however adore Scorpio so that counts for something, right? Would've made a better novel imo.
Barnes & Noble is offering limited edition Harry Potter gift cards and 3 of them come in the form of bookmarks and I put a dollar on each and I'm saving them forever 😍😍😍😍✨✨✨✨✨
Look what I pre-ordered yesterday! (The printer needs toner) lol but it was member double discount day and already listed for 20% off PLUS I had a member coupon so I only paid $17 for it AND I got free express shipping! So excited for this to come in :) perks of working for B&N: I'm always in the know when it comes to great savings!
I'm only 4 chapters in and idk if my reading interest has just matured or if I'm starting to realize I just don't care for Kiera Cass and the way she writes (wasn't a fan of the siren), but I'm not really interested in the continuation of this story and I thought I would be :/
Two words for this book: holy. Crap. I need the rest of the books in this series asap. And I can't even wrap my brain around everything that happened in this book. I give it a million and one stars.
I have a little less than a hundred pages left but I'm at a loss for words to describe how much I love this series.
Always been a sucker for Silverstein✨
*SPOILERS*
Okay. I loved it. Beauty & the Beast meets Twilight. However- my only issue has to do with continuity. Considering Feyre technically died, shouldn't her bargain with Rhys have been fulfilled? Making it null and void? Severing her tie to him? Starting book 2 tomorrow. That better get cleared up!
Maybe it's my huge obsession with Beauty & the Beast, or maybe it's the fact that I was utterly in love with all things Faeries as a kid, but i think this is my new favorite book and I'm only on chapter 27.
As soon as Tamlin's features were described, I couldn't help but picture Sam Claflin's face (Finnick from hunger games/Will from me before you). Only 6 chapters in and I'm already loving it. Wish I started it sooner.
I didn't like it at first. Not one bit. But it grew on me. The story intensified even if the characters didn't. And we don't really get an antagonist until the end. Also realized it's an allegorical narrative relating to heaven, hell, and purgatory. Not sure if I want to read the sequel.
Wasn't the biggest fan of this at first, but I'm coming around. Another teen focused dystopian love triangle. If it weren't for the interesting plot regarding life and death for ALL characters, I would've bailed on this 16 chapters ago. Bookmark from MedusaDollMaker on etsy.
Hogwarts classics came in the mail today, and I snagged the last FB&WTFT at my Barnes & Noble yesterday. Weird, it was the last one there and I can't really find it online anywhere, not even Amazon prime. Anyone know why? (Bookmark is from appraising pages HP book box)
Not fond of the Ilvermorny house names- at all. But I like how they're all names for the 4 "founders" favorite magical creatures. It'll be neat to find out more about it. Ravenclaw+Wampus=Ravenpus? Wampclaw? Interesting. Also, Ilvermorny is located in the Berkshires. Pretty close to home for me!
That's it. That's the whole book.
When she signed my copy of Red Queen this past fall, I asked her to write "Tiana, you are so cool. Seriously. -Victoria Aveyard." Just trying to stick with a theme here. Perks of living 20 minutes from an authors home town ?
Shameless favorite-etsy-book-themed-candle picture 😍 definitely my most favorite candle I own. (And I own a lot.) had to skip BOTH intros to this book because they came off as pure nonsense. However, the actual story is quite lovely so far. I'm enjoying it!
This book has been collecting dust on my TBR pile for nearly 2 years. An inconceivable act if ya ask me.
Parts of it were so incredibly frustrating. Not in the way that's annoying, but in a way that makes you want to keep reading to see how the conflicts are resolved. Also, GREAT unexpected (unless you're good at predicting them like myself) ending. Highly recommend.
