pickJodi Picoult never ceases to amaze me with her ability to deep dive into a controversial subject with such story telling abilities. I loved the content and story of this book and can appreciate the subject as a mental health therapist. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
pickI enjoyed this book. It pulled at my heartstrings. I rooted for them and I liked the way it ended. But I don‘t know. Something felt off. The main character had high functioning Asperger‘s (yes I know that‘s old terminology but the book is ten years old). Something about him didn‘t feel authentic to me. Maybe I don‘t have enough experience with this type of ASD but it didn‘t sit right with me. #autism #asd #autismawareness
I found this incredibly gorgeous lake to sit and read by while my girls were in dance class today. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.
It‘s windy and rainy here today. So much so I had to run out in the rain and save my plants that were on the tiered bed when it fell over. Now I think the rest of the day should be spent curled up with my book. What do y‘all think? ;)

I listened to this courthouse murder mystery with an 18yo suspect with asperger's. The voice acting was annoying at times, but it was engaging and kept me guessing how it would end. The ending felt rushed after the length of the book and a little anticlimactic, but an enjoyable read. 3.5

pickI LOVED this book. A tear jerker, emotional, suspenseful, fulfilling. This book had a little bit of everything and was such an eye opener into the world of a child with Autism. Would recommend to anyone
pickFinished this book today, and I loved it! Definitely recommend it to anyone that hasn‘t read it yet.
This is my current read. I‘m more than halfway done the book, and it‘s been a really good book, but it does have its sad moments.
panShame. I usually like Jodi Picoult books. But this one was too long, very repetitive, and predictable. The review on the back promised 'a strong whodunnit element' but it was obvious what happened and the avoidance of solving the crime felt manufactured and out of character. The voices in the story weren't differentiated enough and Jacob's in particular had a self awareness and analysis that didn't fit with his diagnosis of Asperger's.

pickThis was a really good one by Jodi Picoult. She is so skilled at taking topics that we hear about and making them personal. This book gets into the mind of a by with Aspergers and his family and the people around him. I didn‘t put this one together in the end at all and was really impressed with the detail and the ethical questions that still have me thinking.
Just started this book and so far enjoying it. Love Jodi Picoult.
pickThis is one of the lesser-known Jodi Picoult novels, however I enjoyed it immensely. I loved Jacob's character, and being immersed into the mind of someone with Asperger. I did read some reviews saying Picoult's description of Asperger was not accurate - I don't really know anyone who has the syndrome, so I can't say one way or the other. But the book was a beautiful, compelling read.

panUgh. This book. First of all, there‘s a huge anti-vaxxer message in it which just made me angry. Second, it was totally obvious what happened in the story from the first 50 pages or so.. and the characters just dance around it for 500 freaking pages. The story development here was just awful. Ended up skimming the last 1/3 because I couldn‘t do it anymore.
Book 8 for #13books13weeks. Only a few chapters in, but good so far.
pickPicoult never disappoints! Enjoyed this read immensely and was happy it didn‘t leave me in a pool of tears like most of her books.

My #puzzlepieces are for Autism, since April is Awareness month. This book follows a boy with autism as he tries to help policemen solve a crime. With lots of unexpected plot twists, this was a fairly decent read. I've only ever read a few of Picoult's books and this is the one that stands out most. #HopIntoSpring @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

On the other hand, I think cats have Asperger's. Like me, they're very smart. And like me, sometimes they simply need to be left alone.

Just a few of the books I'm looking forward to in 2018 😉
so-soThis story has the same dynamics with "My SIster's Keeper". It just had a different set of characters and a different "sickness" but "House Rules" is still a must-read. I liked it because I work with special needs children and can relate with the story. However, if you're expecting a really emotional book then it does not compare to "My Sister's Keeper".
A #dangeroustype of person is one who makes decisions without knowing all the information or based on their ignorant, prejudice opinions.
