My Drunk Kitchen
My Drunk Kitchen: A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut | Hannah Hart
10 posts | 23 read | 30 to read
One day, sad cubicle dweller and otherwise bored New York transplant Hannah Hart decided, as a joke, to make a fake cooking show for her friend back in California. She turned on the camera, pulled out some bread and cheese, and then, as one does, started drinking. (Doesn't everyone cook with a spoon in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other?) The video went viral and an online sensation was born.My Drunk Kitchen includes recipes, stories, full color photos, and drawings to inspire your own culinary adventures in tipsy cooking. It is also a showcase for Hannah Hart's great comedic voice. Hannah offers key drink recommendations, cooking tips (like, remember to turn the oven off when you go to bed) and shares never-before-seen recipes such as: The Hartwich (Knowledge is ingenuity! Learn from the past!) Can Bake (Inventing things is hard! You don't have to start from scratch!) Latke Shotkas (Plan ahead to avoid a night of dread!) Tiny Sandwiches (Size doesn't matter! Aim to satisfy.) Saltine Nachos (It's not about resources! It's about being resourceful.)This is a book for anyone who believes they have what it takes to make a souffl for the holiday party and show up the person who apparently has nothing better to do than bake things from scratch. It also recommends the drink you'll need to accompany any endeavor of this magnitude. In the end, My Drunk Kitchen may not be your go-to guide for your next dinner party . . . but it will make you laugh and drink . . . I mean think . . . about life.

This year, one of the options on Salt Lake City Library's SSC is to go on a blind date with a book! We just got our display in nonfiction up and the selections are excellent! Some are funny and light hearted, others are deeper and more intense, but no matter what book you grab, it's sure to have something to intrigue you! 🖤🖤 #summerreading #libraries #librariesrock

Sace I don't even bother to make the cookies. I live on the edge and eat it straight out of the plastic wrap. 8y
Lola Raw cookie dough...Yum! My #readathon day was definitely more of a book store marathon due to #independentbookstoreday 😛 8y

I finished it, but only because it was only 240 pages and I needed to check the #LRC1 food/drink non-fiction box. I'm obviously not the intended audience. I found the complete lack of edible recipes to be annoying and the drunk humor was funny for about 5 pages. Also counts for author #letterH for #LitsyAtoZ.

Redwritinghood I agree. The recipes in this book are terrible. 8y
DogMomIrene Relieved to read this. After seeing a YouTube documentary, I watched a few of HH's videos and I did not understand the appeal. To see the concoctions of a drunk person published as recipes...huh? 8y

I don't think I have any #foodiefiction for #readJanuary, but I'm currently reading this "food memoir" someone mentioned on the Goodreads group of the Litsy reading challenge #LRC1. I'm not sure this really meets the criteria for nonfiction about food/drink, but i think it will have to do. I'm struggling to finish it and just keep telling myself I can do it, because it's short and then I can cross off a challenge. It'll be ok. ?

AAA's program isn't national but most larger towns and cities have some options like this. So, if you want to drink look for something like this ahead of time. Arrange a ride in advance. #drunk #newyears #newyearseve #newyearsparty #party

Donating some books for a fundraising auction at work. It was fun thinking of "describing a book in a tweet" for strangers. It was also very hard!
