Lilly‘s Purple Plastic Purse is a wonderful story about an eccentric little girl who loves school and especially her teacher, Mr. Slinger. Lilly gets a cool new purse, jingly change, and sunglasses with a chain like Mr. Slinger‘s and simply cannot wait to show it off to her classmates, resulting in her getting them taken away. She is angry at first but soon realizes Mr. Slinger is right and makes amends with her favorite teacher. #ucflae3414f17

kenyanellie This book is the perfect RA. The activity I have found to go along with this is a character comparison between Lilly and Chrysanthemum. You could read these books together and fulfill UDL 3.1: activate or supply background knowledge and ESOL 7: show students how to use graphic organizers and 9: teach notetaking strategies by creating the graphic organizer. This book has won the Zena Surtherland Award (edited) 6y

Awesome vocabulary options, good lessons and themes featured (everyone has bad days) and promotes how being a teacher is rewarding & fun! Would be great as an interactive read or reading theater option.
