Welcome to Tortea friendly, small-town family bakery where the pastries are delicious...and, now, suspicious. Its almost spring in Ashland, Oregon, and the town is preparing for the Shakespeare and the annual Chocolate Festival. Business is cookin at Torte, and the store is expanding as Jules team whips up crpes filled with mascarpone cheese and dark chocolate. Torte stands a chance of being this years confectionery belle of the ball! Life couldnt be sweeterunless murder taints the batter. Evan Rowe, of Confections Couture, makes a chocolate fountain that would put Willy Wonka to shame, and his truffles are to die forliterally? Yes, the world-renowned chocolatier has just turned up dead...right after sampling a slice of Jules decadent four-layer chocolate cake. Now all eyes are on Jules as she tries to find the mysterious ingredient in her own recipe. Can she sift out the truth before another contestant bites the buttercream?

It‘s time for Ashland‘s annual springtime chocolate festival! Everything‘s going great for Juliet‘s bake shop when a rival baker seems to die of an allergic reaction right after sampling her wares.

This was charming! I loved the relationship between Juliet & her mother, & the fact that the centered romance was actually Juliet‘s mother & her new beau. Loved the descriptions of food, & I would have loved more of the 2ndary characters. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

After a very long week of work and school, and 2 heavy lifting days plus a core and cardio day, I‘m indulging in some self-care by way of a book and bath (my wonderful hubby is taking care of dinner). I‘ll be participating in #anywayyoureadathon peripherally as I have to get some grad school work done tomorrow and I have to work a full day Sunday. Stupid adulting... #BFC21

Hey @TheAromaofBooks here‘s my repost.
This is my double spin from July (no. 15)
Have a great day! 🤗🤗

[Just finished this. Book #5 from the Bakeshop Mystery Cozy Series. Another keeper. A good murder mystery is very calming if you ask me. :)]

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

i.besteph Book: Evan Rowe, of Confections Couture, makes a chocolate fountain that would put Willy Wonka to shame, and his truffles are to die for—literally? A chocolatier dies in suspicious fashion right as the Oregon Chocolate Festival is kicking off. The ladies of bake shop Torte have to navigate running their booth at the fest and trying to help the police figure out what happened. I read this to my mom over voice memo and we both enjoyed it! It‘s a light, fluffy confection.

Texreader What a cool thing to do for your mom!! 4y
Hooked_on_books @Texreader It was fun! We got in the habit of me reading to her when she visits. Since she can‘t visit now, we found a new way! One thing this pandemic has done is spark creativity, so at least there‘s that! 4y
Texreader @Hooked_on_books Oh that‘s just the best! Mom and I read the same books and we love to do crafts together. I quarantine myself 14 days before I plan to visit my parents so I can still visit them. Unfortunately the kids go back to school in person on Monday, so I‘m visiting them this weekend because it‘ll be awhile before I can plan another visit—if kids are exposed, then I‘m not risking it with Mom and Dad. They‘re just too special! 4y
Hooked_on_books @Texreader That‘s smart, since your parents would be at much greater risk than your kids. Sad but good to keep them separate. My mom is in CA and I‘m in Hawaii, so it makes it hard. I‘m willing to fly there and just hang out on her back deck, distanced, but she‘s too afraid. And I have my own business, so flying there then sitting somewhere for 2 weeks just wouldn‘t be feasible. We‘ll figure it out someday, hopefully. 4y

Juno's not a big fan of thunderstorms so she's tucked herself between the corner of the coffee table and couch. There was similar weather in another great cozy by Ellie. So curious to find out who Jules ends up with. #dogsoflitsy #ilovecozies

The fifth book in the Bakeshop Mystery series set in Ashland Oregon. It's Chocolate Festival time & Torte Bakery is ready to represent when a famous chocolatier has a fatal allergic reaction after trying Jules's chocolate cake sample. Plenty of twists, turns, yummy food & fun in this enjoyable & entertaining cozy mystery. Paired w/homemade Chocolate Truffles & a tropical Mango Chai Latte for my book tour blog review. Day9 #readjanuary #readingequipment My reading equipment type/amount varies based on what/when/where I'm reading but here's a 'settle in' read & what may end up on the bed/couch tray. I'm a moody reader so a few books & my Kindle, my tablet & earbuds for audio books/books w/pics, notebook, pen & tabs especially if reading for a blog review/food pairing, beverage (coffee AM/tea PM), & maybe some chocolate(they're making truffles in this chapter)!😆

My evening: The 2009 BBC 'Emma' because I realized from a Litsy post a while back (I forgot who posted/commented about it) that I somehow missed this adaptation w/Jonny Lee Miller as George Knightly. An ARC of the 5th book of the Bakeshop Mystery series for review, honeybush rooibos tea & holiday cookie leftovers-hazelnut pirouettes, mac-nut shortbread & a Lindt truffle because when a cozy mystery is set at a chocolate festival, you want some!🍫❤️

Hooked_on_books I've been to that chocolate festival! Mmmmm, so good! 🍫 8y
DebinHawaii @readinginthedark 😆👍 @Hooked_on_books I do love a good chocolate festival! 🍫🍫🍫😀 8y
