Throwback to breakfast, when I started HOLD ME while I ate buffalo eggs for the first time in ages. The book‘s great so far. I‘m excited to really wallow in it this evening.
This is a great enemies to lovers book with some secret identity and academia drama thrown in. I loved how Milan developed characters with such depth of pain and trauma and brought them to life. Maria was kicked out of her home at 13, but still has a close relationship with her brother and grandmother. She sees love as conditional with good reason.
The two characters make their journey through emotions, fears, past and future.
Love this series especially this book.

1. Tagged book on #audiobook, “Rafe: a Buff Male Nanny” -crazy title, the book is fun, “The Sleeper & the Spindle” & “Shrill”
2. It‘s a tie for me between “Indigo” by Beverly Jenkins & “Educated” by Tara Westover
3. “Time” by Penny Reid, “Storm of Locusts” by Rebecca Roanhouse, “Grave Destiny” by Kalyana Price

Courtney Milan is now officially one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. This is a fantastic enemies to lovers romance, and I swear Courtney Milan has either gone through grad school in the sciences or had someone near and dear to her do so. Some of the things she writes about it are just spot on.

Milan does make me feel giddy and good as a reader. She's my bulletproof. This contemporary, geeky science, emotion filled romance was really good.
The main strenght is how the two characters make their journey through emotions, fears, past and future.
This is set in the Cyclone series. It can easily be read on its own. Maria is an amazing character, so is Jay.

Interracial romance with queer characters. Whaaaaaat? So in love with this series. Please write the rest of them soon!!! 👍👍👍👍👍 5 thumbs up!
I just read the first two books of the Cyclone series and am absolutely in love. Courtney Milan writes witty banter that has you yelling things at the book. Book 1 is about Tina and Blake trading lives- also deals with poverty, eating disorder, drug use. Hold Me ( trans Latina MC, BI MC interracial POC romance, anxiety, sibling death) is about Maria and Jay and is SO well-developed, not just the romance, but their characters itself. 😍🙌🏽
A contemporary #romantsy , a You Got Mail, type story.: Maria writes an apocalypse scenario blog ,anonymously, Jay is a fan of the blog, but not a fan of Maria. This is la lovely #diverseread .
Last year I realized that I hadn't read very many (or really any) romance novels in my life and I wanted to fix that so in 2017 I committed to reading 4 (1 per quarter)! So far I have read Sarah MacLean, Beverly Jenkins, and Eloisa James, and I really enjoyed all of them, but they were all historical so for the last quarter I figured I had to pick up a contemporary and I've heard good things about this one! #modernlove #septembowie
Book two of Cyclone Series,Maria and Jay meet and immediately despise each other. He makes a stupid split second judgement based on her appearance (beautiful=dumb) and their 'relationship' devolves from there. However, they know each other online by pseudonyms and have been secretly texting and falling in love for nearly two years and once they learn their secret identities it's hard to move forward.
I loved this book about evolving relationships!
Setting aside Song of Achilles for a little while to read these #ebooks that just became available to me!!!
Y'all... Today is the one year anniversary of NC's HB2 and also the best day to shove this book in everyone's face. Maria is a trans woman who has this blog that everyone loves about the apocalypse. She's also girly and wonderful and Jay is super judge-y. But then he realizes she's Em. READ THIS RIGHT NOW ALL OF YOU. #romantsy
With February now over, the Read My Valentine challenge is wrapping up. I didn't read as much as I would have liked, but I was pretty happy with the range of romance I covered.

My holiday is almost over. Hold me... 😭 #romantsy
I'm not a huge fan of contemporary romance, but HOLD ME by Courtney Milan was brilliant. It touches on issues of sexism, gender identity and workaholism in a way that was sensitive and funny. Highly recommended.

Burning questions!
Waiting for them to discover that they know (and dislike) each other in real life is reminding me of the tension in Unspoken by Sara Rees Brennan and Shop Around the Corner/In the Good Old Summertime/You've Got Mail
Looking forward to reading this follow-up to Trade Me, which features Maria! Getting a trans character and characters of color from a mainstream romance author is way more rare than it ought to be.
Thank you vacation for allowing me to read a whole book in less than 24 hours! And thank you Courtney Milan for writing the kind of books that I just don't want to put down. I fell in love with her historical romances, and now I'm really enjoying her first contemporary series. I was a little nervous about the hero, who I heard started as mostly an asshole. True, but the evolution and payoff was very satisfying.
Stay-cation book and brunch. I recently found my pretty e-book cover that I had swapped out for a more utilitarian one ages ago.
This book is on my #TBR. I picked it up, realised I wasn't in the mood for it, and decided to save it for another day. Mood definitely affects how I read my books. In case you're wondering, the steak was meh, and the rosé was good in the sense that I'm slightly tipsy. Now I need a siesta... #romantsy #booksandwine #ebook
Squeeeee! How about a romance to die for with a trans heroine whose trans-ness is just taken for granted. Yes yes yes. All the this. It's hot. It's nerdy. And I bought this one so I OWN it. #romance #contemporary #weneeddiversebooks
IT HAS ARRIVED! 🎉🎉🎉
