A fun middle grade read, I‘ll definitely be continuing with this series. I really enjoyed the different personalities and backgrounds of the four kids. Although it‘s a quick read, Mull packs in plenty of lore and fleshes out the characters nicely. Even the spirit animals feature strong personalities. I‘ll have to see if my nieces and nephews have read these yet, I‘d love to share them with them.

It was the right length audiobook for my road trip to and from my sister‘s place and the narrative was action packed enough to keep me engaged. Will listen to the next in the series next time I visit my sister!

#catsoflitsy Here‘s April; she thinks she‘s a fearsome “great beast.”

Read this along time ago in school and loved it and wondered if anyone did the same? I read the whole series but I haven‘t read the Fall of the Beast series because I was told it wasn‘t very good. I always thought it was weird how each book had a different author, but at least they managed to keep the book consistent.

I can‘t really rate the book since I haven‘t read it for so long.

This book is amazing. After my second time reading it I understand the concepts more clearly and now that I‘m older also that helps. The reason I love this book is mainly because it has to do with animals and i love animals. If you haven‘t read it yet i would recommend it. 10/10 would read again

Cfischbuch Sometimes it‘s good to go back and re-read a favourite, I like that you now have insight into elements of story and writing that make it enjoyable. Thanks for your review. 5y
MrsBabki Great job, Cohen! It is true. You read it with a different set of eye each time you take it on. 5y

Rating: 4.5 Stars

This is a fun, short middle grade! It was a bit short so the plot felt a little underwhelming but it was mostly interesting and the world was really intriguing. I will definitely continue with the series. I‘m also intrigued as as each book in the series is by a different author!

While the concept of this book is interesting, I wasn‘t overly impressed with some of the turns the story took. The story is told through alternating POV chapters between 4 different characters. While I don‘t mind this type of setup, 4 POVs seemed like a bit of overkill, especially with all of the world-building from the ground up necessary. The action scenes are well-written, making me wish there was more fighting going on in the plot.

It was alright: by no means as good as Fablehaven. I wish this were targeted towards the adult audience, cause it could be taken into much more deep territory and a bit more interesting as far as content. I adore the summoning of the spirit animals and their personalities, and how they enhance abilities, I just wish it were tailored for a different audience. Might not finish the series.

An okay read that had kind of a Tamora Pierce feeling to it. A little too rushed and, dare I say it, easy. I mean, everything was given away, not much was left to the imagination.
