Great book, poetically written, a good survey of the major players in 29th century art music.
Though I would like it more if it included some more major female composers.

These two picks from Michael are new to me and both seem interesting: Jerzy and The Rest Is Noise

Notafraidofwords Of course he would pick a Faulkner book because that‘s exactly what the people need recommending. 7y
emilyhaldi Is Michael lightening up his reading these days?? 7y
LauraBeth @Notafraidofwords 😂 I know, right? I love Faulkner but it‘s only because I had a wonderful Lit Professor in college who guided me through his books. I‘ve never causally recommended Faulkner to anyone. 7y

Even though I was a music major I had not learned about half the music in this book. Alex Ross can tell such compelling stories about music and history! One of the non-fiction books I recommend most to people. @Booksandcooks #5555giveaway

LauraBrook Dang, now I want to immediately start reading this (off of my shelves, wallet is thankful) and listen to everything as the author goes along! Stupid adulting gets in the way of all the fun stuff. 8y
ReadingEnvy @LauraBrook I have it all in a Google doc somewhere, I will look! 8y
