Easing into a fortnight‘s leave from work, and greatly enjoying this marvellous novel by Lalique Paull so far. #theice #lalinepaull #books #bookstagram #currentlyreading #booksandcoffee #coffeeandbooks #cotebrasserie #muswellhill #muswellhillbilly #n10 #caffeine #caffeineaddict #wakeupandsmellthecoffee #wakeupandsmellthecoffin #onholiday #wishiwasatwork#missingtheoffice
My first book of 2018 and what an amazing start! An incredibly written and paced book - the level of tension and suspense was perfectly built and balanced. Also loved her previous book so Paull is a must read author for me.
I finished this over Christmas. Excellent story, quite gripping at times, and I loved the beginning of each chapter where there were excerpts from non-fiction voyages to the Arctic. If this hadn‘t have been a library book, I would‘ve had the dust cover off to see what was underneath. It looks rather intriguing...

I seem to be back on the ice 😏 I was overwhelmed by my tbr last night and just asked my daughter to bring me a book off the pile and this was it!
Totally brought for the cover!
Have only read over lunch so nothing much to report yet!

This one fits 😀
Laline Paull's near-future climate change thriller is an unsatisfying polemic that revolves around the deeply unconvincing Sean (a poor boy made good who's constantly surprised by the double-dealing and selfishness of others) in a world where all the capitalists are venal and evil and all the environmentalists are over-emotional hysterics and where the conspiracies are so laughably obvious that I was glad to reach the end.
47 ~ The Ice by Laline Paull (Kindle edition📱~ advanced copy from Netgalley) ~ Started: 27.04.17 ~ Finished: 04.05.17
Rating: 4/5📚
I found 'The Ice' to be a interesting story, I enjoyed reading the insights on The Arctic before each chapter. The theme of climate change is very present and will make you think.
Highly recommended.
I received a copy of 'The Ice' from NetGalley to review.
In the not-too-distant future the pace is climate change is starting to pick up. Sea levels are rising, summer I've is a thing of the past in the far north and Paull gives us an all-too-possible eco-thriller where governments and big business continue to put political and economic advantage over ecological survival. It's a fantastic story full of impressively complex characters and a gripping plot and a stark warning. http://ow.ly/JJs330bkgfK
I love the little illustrations and excerpts from Arctic exploration texts
Have this on my kindle from #netgalley. Seems perfect for #aprilbookshowers #weather prompt ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
