I have a very soft spot for Marguerite Henry, who was one of my very favorite authors when I was a little girl. In retrospect, I've realized that a huge part of this was due to the amazing illustrations of Wesley Dennis, who illustrated almost all of her books. This story is about a young boy who lives in Vienna and loves the Lipizza stallions. He overcomes the odds to become a rider at the school. A charming story with fabulous illustrations.⬇️

TheAromaofBooks I did get the opportunity to see the Lipizza stallions perform when they came through Columbus when I was in high school. They are truly stunning and well worth the cost of admission. If I ever make my way to Vienna, it would be pretty fantastic to see them on their home turf!

TheAromaofBooks @Leftcoastzen - I was wayyy into horse books as a kid and devoured every one that I could find. I own most of Henry's books now and have been revisiting them over the last few years - a lot of them have held up really well. I legit cried when I read Stormy! 5y

Like many girls, I went through a horse crazy phase. I read every Marguerite Henry book I could get my hands on. After reading this one, my mother took me to watch Lipizzan stallions train which was close to heaven to my young heart. #aprilamazingreads #childhooddelight
