My husband finds old glassware in our woods, some of it dating back to the late 1800s, where an old homestead used to be. Many of them look to be tiny worlds unto themselves within. They often remind me of faerie stories I‘ve read. Or perhaps stories I will create someday. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Crazeedi So awesome! 6y
llwheeler Wow, so beautiful! 6y
Velvetfur Oh my gosh that's amazing, I love mysterious stuff like this! Do you know what I should put into Google to try to find out more about them? I mean, should I put something like '1800s mini worlds' or something...? I need to know more! 6y
Ericalambbrown @Velvetfur We have 83 acres of woods we bought a couple of years ago. It hadn‘t been touched in almost 40 years. We started finding all of these bottles and jars that had been left behind and nature just kind of took them over! Like tiny terrariums. We‘ve found old tools and all sorts of stuff out there. This morning, my daughters noticed this single, perfect mushroom in our yard. My response was that it looked like a perfect faerie house, & my 12yo said "Yes! Like Tinkerbell!" So, this post is to ask this question:

What book immediately springs to mind when you see this picture?

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Hahaha...sorry, but my brain went to Smurfs! 😂 7y

mom2bugnbee @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Haaaaaaa! My brother collected Smurfs as a kid (we're in our 40's, so children of the 80's) & he had the mushroom house in which to store them! 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @mom2bugnbee I'm in my 40's too, and therefore a child of the 80's! It's a generational reference obviously.....you can guess ages by their first thought to this picture. Haha 7y
underthebelljar I don't think there are mushrooms in here but it is about faeries 🍄 7y
scripturient I would definitely say Alice but yes, the smurfs come to mind as well. Loved them as a kid and had a bunch of them and a mushroom house which I was so proud of! Does anybody remember how those toys smelled? This weird rubbery smell? Awww, memories! 😊 7y
mom2bugnbee @scripturient It's been proven that smell is the most memory-evoking of the senses. (A&P professor here.) When I mentioned in an earlier post that my brother collected them & had the mushroom house, I absolutely could "smell" them via memory. ? 7y
mom2bugnbee @CrowCAH Definitely Alice. 7y
xicanti I think of this Nordic gnome book I was obsessed with when I was a little kid. All the gnome children played on and around mushrooms. 7y

#bookwithpictures My sister has always known about my love of fantasy and mythology. When we learned Alan Lee was assisting with the design of the LOTR movies, she gave me this book. ❤#seasonsreadings2016 @RealLifeReading

I have many #artrelatedbooks, almost all are of faeries. This was my first. I remember taking my older copy on long family road trips during the summer, looking into the woods passing by the window, and wondering about another world. Years later I got the anniversary edition as well, but couldn't give up the original that had gone so many places with me.
