I knew I should have DNFed at 10% when I wasn‘t sure. My New Years Resolution was to DNF books I don‘t like. I did. so at about 70% of this book. Judge this book by its cover.

The writing is like Wattpad fanfic level. The romance is meh at absolute best, extremely uncomfortable at worst. Kamsin is happy when hanging out with an 8 year old thief than with this weirdo king. Overall BORING! 1/5 for bamboozling me to continue until 70% of the book.

3 hours and 55 minutes for #sharreadathon! I‘m reading The Winter King by C.L. Wilson in honor of Sharon‘s memory. I hope wherever she is, she is able to see this #readathon and know how loved she was/is!

The story was a bit long and slow, some problems and situations kept popping up almost at an frustratingly regular pace. All in all, I did enjoy the book with it's beautiful world building and plot.

This ticked all the right boxes for me last night when I couldn‘t sleep. It got a little repetitive I‘m parts, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly. Pretty sure this is in my May #bookspin list, so I‘ll just replace it with another of her books.

I just finish yesterday, and I'm think I will give this 2.5 star or 3 star. It was very long and slow but I still like it, I just wish it wasn't as boring as it was. But I understand why it was long, just the ending i fell like it was drag for to long. And a lot of the problem in this book kept showing up again and again without any solution 🤦🏾‍♀️. But I love the places you visit in the book.

I‘ve seen this novel all over Instagram lately so I picked it up...and then I couldn‘t put it down! It was so freaking good people! I had expectations based on the cover, but this girl is badass and Wyn is actually really sweet. Romance and fantasy mixed with family drama and an out of place princess. I‘m only putting off reading the next book because the third one is not published yet 😀.

So I‘ve seen this book on Amazon more than once and kept forgetting to get it to read. The cover is beautiful and the book sounds really good! I haven‘t read anything by C.L. Wilson before...

Not my usual genre, I enjoyed this fantasy romance, at least up until the last chapter or two. I thought the author did a good job of explaining the relationship between the two characters, but I don't enjoy when everything is wrapped up with a bow.
I've read plenty of fantasy, but tend not to read romance, this was quite steamy, not for the younger crowd.
I'm not continuing the series, but this was a fun read that could have had a better ending.

My favourite bits of this fantasy romance came just past the halfway point, when the heroine and hero started to get to know one another instead of coasting along on waves of mutual physical attraction. From there, I often struggled to put the book down, though on the whole I felt it could've been shorter. There were a few uncomfortable, rape culturey moments early on, too. #romantsy

I hit Tim Horton's at lunch and read a big chunk of THE WINTER KING while I tried to win a car.

Alas, I'm in the middle of a major, two-year Please Play Again streak. I didn't even win a free donut. 😭 At least the book got really good past the halfway point.

I ain't a fan of carbonated beverages, but I've got this THING where I'll drink a Coke during the Olympics. I went to Dollar Tree and bought a Diet Coke because I realized I'd never tried one before, and I ended up drinking it while I read a wintery fantasy romance instead of while I watched winter sports.

The flavour's weaker than I expected, but it's not as terrible as my anti-Diet, Coke-swilling relatives led me to believe.

Aww that was so fun! Predictable plot it may have had, but the characters were dynamic & delicious, the world-building really rich & imaginative. This book checked off all my marriage-first trope favorites, which was enjoyably enhanced by the magic & mayhem. As I said, the plot followed a very predictable template, & it could probably have been 200 pages shorter, but otherwise a lovely high fantasy romance. ★★★☆☆.

#currentlyreading | I‘m usually not a fantasy romance person but MAN, the last book I read really put me in the mood.

Something about this cover made me think it was from the eighties. 😄 It‘s not. After reading I realized it is however whitewashed. 👎🏼 While I didn‘t find the world-building and names were all that original, the sample for Kindle Books is rather generous and half way through I was hooked. It‘s fantasy/romance/political marriage with a heroine who is a weather mage, which makes it extra fun when she gets annoyed at the dinner table.

If you all couldn't tell from my previous post: I'm SO enthusiastic about this book. It was great fun to read and I lost myself completely in this world. I love the way the characters in the royal families could control the weather! And the betrayals just kept on coming. (Betrayals are so hard, but they make for SUCH great fantasy stories.)

What I would change: the final battle. It was slow! But that's all. I loved pretty much everything else.

I had no idea the pure happiness I would feel when I started this book. I have about 150 pages left of this
~ 600-page brick, and I'm already sad about it ending soon.

I've been completely oblivious to everything around me while I've been reading this, which is the greatest feeling in the world. YOU ALL KNOW THAT AMAZING-BOOK-FEELING I'M TALKING ABOUT? I have it right now. 🙌🏻💃🏻
