The Atlantis Gene
The Atlantis Gene | A.G. Riddle
THE BATTLE TO SAVE HUMANITY HAS BEGUN. Off the coast of Antarctica, a research vessel discovers a mysterious structure buried deep within an iceberg. Entombed for thousands of years, it can't possibly be man-made. But a secretive and ruthless cabal think they know what it is... and what it means. The Immari have spent millennia preparing for the return of humanity's ancient enemy. Faced with an extinction-level threat, they believe mankind's only chance of survival will mean sacrificing 99.9% of the planet's population. It's a price the Immari are prepared to pay. Geneticist Kate Warner and intelligence agent David Vale may have a chance to avert the looming catastrophe, but only if they can decode the secrets of the Atlantis Gene and unlock the truth about humanity's origins.

Quite a different story to what I usually read, I enjoyed the science based book mixed in with the aliens helped humans advance technologically theory. The book reads fast, it is interesting and keeps you hooked. There are a few bits that were rushed or not very well explained but that might have been the translation (I almost never read in Czech).

Better than I expected - adventurous thriller with some nice twists at the end - a bit far fetched with a few sub plots but intriguing enough to make you keep reading - a series so I‘ll see where the story goes in the next book.

I listened to this book on audible. It was a bit slow at first, but about a quarter of the way in, I got hooked. Overall, I enjoyed it and would like to continue the series if for no other reason than to see Dorian get his comeuppance, lol. #tbr #wintergames #elfies @Bookwormjillk

An intriguing take on the Atlantean myth - brings in some historical facets as well. There are some exciting action sequences to keep the pace moving quickly which I enjoyed. The author used the expositional ex machina of a lost journal to aid the protags but at least it wasn‘t slow! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you like ancient aliens and conspiracy theories and lots of action, then this is the book for you! I wasn‘t sure if I would like it at first but now I‘m totally hooked. Can‘t wait to get into the rest of the series

OK you know what? Fuck this book. It is just so wrong. I'm going to do a live blog post of this going through as much as I can. It is so white saviour, full of ableism, and other bullshit that I'm just swearing at it a lot.
I'm going to do the right thing and stop reading it until I can write a full blog post as to why I hate it.

hgrimes Yikes! Thanks for the warning. 6y
EllanaRose @hgrimes - Lead female character is introduced as working on research to cure autism in Indonesia. Kids get kidnapped after showing signs of improvement. Indonesian police shown as the bad guys. That's just one plot of many 7% into it. Also a man unable to control his urges in a group shower. I can't. I just... How is this considered a good book? Ugh. Anyway I'll stop ranting XD 6y
hgrimes @EllanaRose haha, sounds like a real classic! 😂 6y

Ingerella I'm pretty sure I gave one of the books in this series a 1 star review. It was my first and only. 6y
EllanaRose @hgrimes - Right? XD @Ingerella - I've given a couple of 1* reviews but I've never been this angry reading a book. Not since the one that romanticised abuse, but that had some redeeming factors. This is just a wreck. I don't suppose you read the rest of the trilogy? XD 6y
Ingerella Hah! I checked and it was this one that I gave a 1 star review to. And nope, didn't read any further. I remember getting to 75% and forcing myself to finish it. Ugh. 6y
EllanaRose @Ingerella - I don't blame you for that. Bloody hell what a wreck of a book it is. I'm half excited about doing a blog post on it, just to get all my thoughts out, so I can focus on something better 6y

Will catch up tomorrow on my Serial Reader reading, but for now I'm going to read this. I've already got an idea of what the related blog post is going to include. It's mostly me ranting, but let's be honest here, when do I not rant about book things?

Goodreads lists 10 currently reading books, but out of those four are from Serial Reader, and four are for university. This however is going to be my new #ItsSoLateItsEarly series. I have not read/watched any reviews so I'm going in blind. I'm kind of excited about it.

GarthRanzz I‘ve had this series on my list for a while. I hope you enjoy it! 6y
EllanaRose @GarthRanzz - I had to stop reading it. I'll go back to it tonight, but one of the lead characters is researching how to cure autism. That's... That's not a good thing. 6y

Nice fast paced thriller. Got a little confused in the middle but the end was good enough to make me wanna read the next one. I'm not in a hurry though. #Sha2018

#didntlikeitstillfinished. I've blasted this book before--you can find my post here on Litsy. #marchintoreading

Bette Oh, geez. I recognize the author. I read The Departure and hated wasting my time. Good to know. 7y
Texreader @Bette I should have bailed but at least I proved to myself it didn't get any better. This is the first of a trilogy. No point going on. Hope I helped you to avoid another dud. 7y

A present day character is trying to explain America's current "war" to a sort of time traveler who thought the Cold War was still going on. This quote made me laugh out loud: America is at war with an Afghan tribe? I'd never heard it described that way. It was the #bestlineinabadbook that stood out to me. #booklove17

I finally finished this monstrosity and it was terrible. Poor writing and poor editing. I posted an example earlier and this type of sloppy writing continued to the end. Rest assured I will read no further in this trilogy and I won't pick up this author again. This artwork at the end is kind of cool and may be the only saving grace.

myers85 Well done for sticking with a book you hated. I sometimes find the reward of hating a book is you appreciate even more what makes a good book so good. 7y
Texreader @myers85 Thanks for the encouragement. I wanted to bail so many times. Not sure really why I stuck to it. I guess hope against hope. But I was able to write an honest review. 7y

This book makes no sense. Two nuclear warheads are detonated underground and the man who did it says "I'm going to go down there and check on her...". I'm no scientist but this book doesn't even try to make logical sense. There's likely no "underground" left. I really dislike this book. Ten percent to go on Kindle and then I will wish it good riddance.

Chelsey Good to know. I just hate-finished one book. I'll give this one a miss so my head doesn't explode. 7y
kammartinez I know people say you shouldn't finish a book you don't enjoy, but I also believe that sometimes, a book is so bad you need to finish it so you can write a proper review about it and warn the world about it. 7y
Foragingfantasy My sister in law was just recommending this book to me. 😂 7y

A very very #slowread for me. Months and months into and still not finished. Part of the problem is the format using the kindle app on my phone. I forget about it. But then clearly the book isn't calling to me either. I'd sooner read James Rollins' "origin" stories that I can't put down!! #readjanuary

MaleficentBookDragon I'm right there with you. I 💜❤️💙 James Rollins stand alone books so much. 7y
Texreader @MaleficentTheBookDragon I can't wait for the next Rollins! He knows how to write a page turner you can't put down. 😁👍 7y

#bookclubpick for January was Atlantis Gene. I'm close to the end. It is so fast paced and has so many players that I can see why the author split it up into a trilogy. The action and mystery of it reminds me of Dan Brown books. Or at least it pulls out the same feelings in me. Anyone else read this one yet? #a.g.riddle #atlantisgene #thriller #actionpacked #bookclub #conwayavidreaders

I've been reading this book for months now on my phone when I have insomnia. It was a slow-moving action adventure story, which normally doesn't bode well. Ugh! It also felt like, early on, a James Rollins' ripoff. Finally more than half-way through it picked up the pace and the story got interesting. I may actually finish it in a few months. For now, not a recommendation.

Sweettartlaura "Slow-moving action/adventure" ... Say no more ? 7y
whatsjennareading I read this trilogy. It does get better for sure, but for me it's just so so. 7y
Texreader @hrhthebookqueen I don't think I'll read the trilogy. Does book one have a satisfactory conclusion? If not I think I'll bail. 7y
whatsjennareading I can't remember and cannot find a synopsis to jog my memory. I'm pretty sure the first two end on a cliff hanger. I don't regret reading them by any means, they just weren't mind blowing is all 7y

Has anyone read this book or this series? I need some help! I'm looking for a new series for my husband...he is a fan of the Pendergast series, Clive Cussler, and also loves Patrick Rothfuss and George RR Martin fantasy. This book came up as a recommendation on Amazon...what do you think? Or any other series you'd recommend he try next? I could use your wisdom, Littens! 😬

Texreader I'm reading it now. Sort of. Not holding my interest. I like his brand of books so I highly recommend James Rollins Sigma Force novels. I love them so much. Some are better than others. But overall they are page turners like no other. And there are lots of his books so they can keep your hubby busy for a long time. 7y
Texreader It helps to read the Sigma Force stories in order to keep track of the main characters' personal stories but absolutely not necessary (I didn't read them order). I think one of his most recent books was his best. (edited) 7y
Onceuponatime @Texreader That series sounds so great, thank you! I just looked it up and it sounds like what I've been looking for. The Bone Labyrinth does sound really good! 7y
Texreader @Onceuponatime I do hope you get it for him and he loves it! Rollins has at least two more series of books both of which are awesome too. So not as many books as Cussler but a lot to delve into. 7y

Enjoyable read. A little dense with a lot of moving parts, but definitely worth the read.
