Be prepared for an onslaught of Hanukkah book reviews this morning.
When I saw Chanukah Guest at the library, I didn‘t realize it is the original version of the Hanukkah Bear story we have been reading every year since Maya was little. Hanukkah Bear has newer illustrations, but a revisited, shorter text. They‘re both great in their own way!
#WinterReadsBingo update, I almost have a diagonal Bingo! I'll have to pull out one of our Chanukah books later today to get my first bingo. Probably the one tagged, but we'll see.
Being able to read one book for multiple prompts has really helped. 😃

One of the only rereads I‘m doing for this challenge, but Hanukkah Bear is a family favorite! Our copy is from PJ Library, and Bubba Brayna - who does not see or hear very well - mistaking a bear for the rabbi used to send Maya into spasms of laughter every year.
Bubba Brayna makes the best latkes in the village, and on the first night of Hanukkah, the scent of her cooking wakes a hungry, adorable bear from his hibernation. He lumbers into town to investigate, and Bubba Brayna--who does not see or hear very well--mistakes him for her rabbi. She welcomes the bear inside to play the dreidel game, light the menorah, and enjoy a scrumptious meal.

Taking a break from regular book talk, because we had such a wonderful first night of Chanukah I had to share! My biological sister is visiting for the first time, and it was amazing to share the festivities with her.
Hubby was on call, so I picked a gingerbread house craft for the first night‘s activity. It was a blast..and when the roof fell in on the barn we turned it into a Halloween house. 🤣
