Was considering rereading The Brick since it's been nearly eighteen years and I could read it for free. Then I remembered my TBR list and decided to wait to find a pretty edition to buy.

Day 1: most wrecked book, #crimesagainstcovers @ErinSueG found these in a library‘s for sale shed. I felt bad because I didn‘t think anyone was going to buy them and give them a home, so I did. 😂

5280reader Awww so nice of you! 6y
Erinsuereads Holy moly! They look like they survived a fire! They have certainly earned a good home if so 💜💜💜 6y

I am wondering why I allowed the length of this book to hinder me from reading it for so long. I wish I had read it before I saw the musical... on principle I try to read most books before I watch the movie, and I guess this is similar, but the first time I saw Les Miserables the musical I was not at a time in my life where I could take time to read the book.
(Continued in comments:)

lauraodom So, having seen Les Mis the musical on multiple occasions I am familiar with the basic story. I find as I go through the book that it is so rich in details I never knew I was missing and I feel like I‘m learning new things about old friends. I can only imagine this must be what it‘s like for people to read the Harry Potter series after having already watched the movies. :-)

Bronte_Chintz This is a brilliant review! I‘ve been put off by the length, in spite of knowing I love the classics, but this has made me add it to my TBR list again. I love the musical! 7y
lauraodom @Bronte_Chintz You won‘t regret it! The further I get into it the more I want to read! ❤️ 7y

I know people rave on about how awesome this book is...but it depressed me so much that I was practically suicidal!

quote
GoneFishing

The poor man shuddered, overflowed with an angelic joy; he declared in his transport that this would last through life; he said to himself that he really had not suffered enough to deserve such radiant happiness, and he thanked God, in the depths of his soul, for having permitted that he, a miserable man, should be so loved by this innocent being.

#FunFridayPhoto high school sophomore English and Les Mis started my obsession with reading. Yes I was that one person in class that actually read the book and could answer the teacher's questions 🤓🤓.
