The sequel to Vicious, and while sometimes it felt long and drawn out, it was really good! Hard to put down and FULL of action. I need a third book because clearly there‘s MORE!! Book #83 in 2024

A household cold means we've pushed our Easter gathering to next week, which means more reading this long weekend... can't complain about that... especially since my symptoms are very mild and this book is very good 😌
THE night Marcella died, she made her husband‘s favorite dinner. #FirstLineFridays
I still can't believe it took me this long to read this series
I am LOVING Schwab's brand of urban/superhero fantasy in the Villains series. About to start book 2 and so excited! I'll have to revisit the Shades of Magic trilogy next. I really enjoyed book 1 but never bothered with the sequel. But Vicious has reminded me how much I love her style.
This has now become my favourite Schwab series.

Vengeful was an amazing sequel to vicious and showed how the characters try to cope, and how people try to abuse powers given to them, and could potentially ruin or rule a city and affect many people, and even if someone is taken out of the picture, someone else will take the seat and continue the work.
Sometimes you just need some ice cream and a book!
I was really excited to start the second part of this duology and I have to say that I‘m not disappointed. I loved the characters in this book (arguably even more than those in the first) and really enjoyed reading the interactions as well as meeting new characters. I love the way this book was written and think that this book was a wonderful conclusion to the series!

Every end may be a new beginning, but every beginning had to end.
“Still planning to kill me?”
“Yes,” hissed Eli, blood leaking between his teeth.
Marcella clicked her tongue.
“Men.”
The world wasn‘t made for the faint of heart.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
“You look like Snow White killed the queen and stole the mirror.”
“Jesus, Marcella, anyone ever told you that you‘re batshit crazy?”
Marcella pursed her lips. “Several times,” she said. “It‘s an insult men love to aim at ambitious women.”
If there was a way out of this, he would find it.
If there wasn‘t, he would make one himself.
If you lived in the dark, you died in the dark. But stand in the light, and it was that much harder to make you disappear.
And Marcella Renee Morgan wasn‘t going anywhere.
“That wasn't exactly subtle.“
Marcella only smiled. “Sometimes subtlety is overrated.“
“Never underestimate an angry woman.“
“Never underestimate a woman.“
“You‘re such a weirdo sometimes.”
“Only sometimes?” asked Victor. “I‘ll have to try harder.” Those blue eyes flicked to Eli. “Normal is overrated.”
What if death didn‘t change a person‘s nature, only amplified it?
Sam would just smile, and say that no man would walk in on one of Tony Hutch‘s crew.
Perhaps, but Marcella Riggins was no man.
She let herself inside.
“But hey, like I said, not all family is blood, right? Sometimes we have to find a new one. Sometimes we get lucky and they find us.”
“Maybe we are broken. But we put ourselves back together. We survived. That‘s what makes us so powerful.”
“I don‘t want you to save me,” said Sydney. “I want to save myself.”
Perhaps she was glass.
But glass is only brittle until it breaks.
Then it‘s sharp.
This was slow. Backstories were appreciated, tugged at my heartstrings but, ultimately, not necessary to the story.
However, although slow, I didn't get bored because of the storytelling. I really love Schwab's writing.
And the characters! More were introduced here, more were lost, too. But I love them all!
Anyway, I like it although I still think it could have ended at Vicious. But, if ever there will be a 3rd book, I'll definitely read it.
Lol, just finished the prologue and I'm no longer sceptical.
Putting my trust in you, Schwab!
Finally reading Vengeful. I'm excited but also sceptical as I think Vicious was perfect as a standalone.
"Some people were matches, a bit of light and no heat. And some were furnaces, all heat but little light. And then, once in a blue moon, there was a bonfire, something so hot and bright you couldn't stand too near without burning."

I loved every moment of this novel. VE Schwab is one of my favorites. I loved the timeline and felt like it was expertly pieced together. A great spin on superpowers and morally grey characters and I can't wait to see where it goes next. This series would make for a fantastic movie or series.

My #Marchtbr I also need to decide on my book set in Greece for #foodandlit2022
I enjoyed this audiobook so much, I finished an entire second puzzle. This is book 2 of a duology that begins with Vicious which is also very entertaining. I had heard mixed reviews of this one, but I found it very engaging. Our anti-hero team continues to survive and cope with the events of book 1. So this does not work as a standalone. 4.5⭐️ #audiopuzzle

EOs (ExtraOrdinary) are a category of humans with varying special abilities made after a traumatic experience that resulted in their death: their bodies‘physiological and psychological response to a sudden, traumatic death and resurrection. (From the internet) This was engaging and well written but there were so many characters to keep track of. Also, it‘s the sequel to Vicious which I should have read first 😕 #authoramonth #bookspinbingo
