Jaya @EloisaJames yeah, I don‘t know how common that fantasy is, so it‘s interesting that Reid chose it. He does stop, which was better for me as a romance reader, but problematic because it undermined all the previous insistence that it is acceptable when practiced consensually and outside of exploitative pornographic practices. 6y

EloisaJames @Jaya it struck me as a Catch-22. She used it as something fresh, but if she stuck to it, it broke a central romance contract. 6y

Penny Reid has been my go-to author for two years now, whenever I need a fun, smart, engaging read with a guaranteed HEA. I loved the evolution of Will and Josey‘s relationship, and of course, the HEA. A great book, with great characters and dialogue. I‘m sorry this is the last in the series. I hope Reid and Cosway write more together.

AmandaL I read the Winston Brothers books for the first time last month, and I devoured them one after the other. Now I'm a Penny Reid fan too! 6y

My air conditioner has died. It is currently 83* inside my house at 2:30 am. I do not have $10k to fix it. I cannot sleep, so I am starting this piece of escapism to try to pretend like my life isn‘t a great steaming pile of š’©

julesG Ugh! Can you open the windows to get some air moving? You could hang a wet towel in the window, it helps cooling the air. (I have to use old fashioned tricks, since I don't have AC.) 6y

DGRachel @julesG Unfortunately most of my windows don‘t have screens, so I‘d end up overrun with insects. I have a portable a/c unit coming that I‘ll set up in my bedroom. It just doesn‘t get delivered until Wednesday. In the meantime, Bailey and I are melting. š I have all the ceiling fans on high to keep the air moving. 6y

Aimeesue Also, having grown up in a house without AC, I will say that the best way to keep things cool is to keep shades, curtains and blinds drawn during the day, and to use a box fan in a window at night to pull cool air into the house. If the fan fits the window well enough, you can block the sides where res no screen with thin fabric or even doubled over plastic wrap. Won't help with humidity, but the cool will feel much better. š¬ 6y

DGRachel @mcipher Thats what I‘ve done (at least all except the Popsicles for dinner-I ordered pizza delivery so I didn‘t have to cook and turn on the stove or oven). I‘ve wiped Bailey down a few times with a cool washcloth, too, because she‘s suffering a bit. š The portable a/c unit arrives Wednesday. Bailey and I just have to not die of heat stroke before then. 6y

DGRachel @mcipher House got up to 86* today. We had rain storms come through this evening, which cooled the outside down. I went to PetSmart and bought a dog cooling pad, but for some reason Bailey wants to snuggle on my bed tonight instead of laying on her bed, so I think I‘m going to put the pad under my sheet and use it myself. š‚ 6y
