Thank you so much @kimmypete1 This book has been on my TBR for soooo long! The candy is so yummy! Happy holidays! #JolabokaflodSwap
Steamy hate-to-love contemporary romance that ultimately had too many things I hated. I‘ll get to some in the comments under cover, but I feel like Caleb‘s come-around was pretty shitty, and the only thing I really liked was Ava‘s friendship with Harper and that had some rocky stuff, too. I was so-so until the last few pages and then it dropped. Won‘t read SY again, not for me.
Rainy morning, kids off to school, coffee hot, ready to dive deeper into this book.
Wow...what a ride! Heat factor 100🔥🔥🔥 great characters, emotion, and storytelling. Only critique is Ava let the Bastard Scot off WAY too easily at the end there. I hope Harper gets a book! #romance #enimiestolovers
Packed a lot more emotion than I was expecting, but a great listen. Narrator did a fantastic job with the Scottish accent.
I really enjoyed their angsty banter. Their chemistry was explosive.
I couldn‘t put this one down! I loved the story line! And the little bits of missing information that I just had to keep reading to figure out. I‘m on the lookout for a hot scott now 😉 #samanthayoung #fightorflight #romance #lovedit
Just the book I needed to jolly me out of a near book slump.
This is a reluctant pick for me as, without giving too much away, I found myself conflicted in the latter part of the book. The characters had chemistry (although the Scottish “accent” was a bit distracting), but I felt like Ava lost her voice a little which tends to happen in romance books like these. They walk a fine line between romantic and possessive. I still can‘t decide if the line was crossed beyond redemption with this one.
This book came up as a suggestion after the recent books I‘ve been reading. Will it be a relative flop like the others or is the third book in a row of the same genre a win? Time will tell!

I loved this book. It‘s hard to go wrong with a large, tattooed guy with a bad attitude and a great Scottish accent. The book made me smile, it made me cry and surprisingly there was a lot of depth and serious topics covered as well. My only complaint is how quickly the ending happened, it felt a bit rushed. But I want more. Maybe a second book around brother Jamie?!
3rd book done for #24b4monday
Just a great light girlie book! Just what I needed to relax!!
General book club consensus - problematic but a nice light read! We had record numbers out at #GirlyBookClub last night, it‘s so nice to see our little chapter of this international book club grow!
I did really enjoy this book, but I did feel like some of the book should have been a little more passionate, it did get like that towards the end and I did feel like Ava forgave Caleb a little too easy. I would have made him grovel a bit lol
I really really hated Caleb Scot at the beginning of this book BUT I also kind of hated the main character in the beginning too. I don‘t think I would have finished this book after the first 50 pages if wasn‘t reading this for book club, but it did get better towards the middle and end. Overall an okay book for a quick fling lol . 3.5 out of 5 stars
I couldn‘t decide if I liked the book or hated the book, but it made me want to finish it. If Christmas by Accident is a Hallmark Christmas movie, this is like a Lifetime movie.....
So I started reading this because it‘s been hailed as the new Hating Game—it hasn‘t disappointed me yet! Well-written and hot, the plot is more than just a few tropes strung together. The hero is a tough-talking Scot, which is a personal fave of mine. Right now, he‘s pretty douchey, but I‘m hoping he gets better....💙✈️🌎
This is the first book that I have read by Samantha Young but it won't be the last. This was the perfect romance book that I was looking to read right now. Hope the author writes more books about some of the characters in the story. I would love to see them get their happy ending!
Do you ever cast a book in your head? For this one I see Joanna Garcia Swisher as Ava & Kristofer Hivju as Caleb. Maybe I'll make this #CastingCall a thing. I'd love to see yours!
3.5 stars for this uneven romance. It felt like a Hallmark Channel movie with some garbage plot points but decent sexy times. Strong side characters. Some redundancy & lots of telling not showing. Luckily, I find douchey characters funny. In real life, not so much.
Settling in to read an early copy I received from FirstToRead. Quiet time is needed after a long day. I managed to get my car stuck in some flood water yards away from where I work. Luckily I work at a hotel so I've got a warm place to stay, if a haphazard outfit of random clothes I had around while my other ones dry.
Really need a cutesy romance right now. And the guy is Scottish 🤤
August reads. My favorites were Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews and Fight or Flight by Samantha Young.
Anyway, overall we had a great vacation despite the lack of reading. Here is me relaxing the night of my birthday, which I loved being able to celebrate at the beach. And, despite the stress, I‘m glad to be home. Thanks for listening!
(If you‘re just tuning in, I‘ve threaded-as much as you can on Litsy-my vacation reading and reading slump tonight. I‘d suggest starting at my first post tonight. Easy to spot as the first post in two weeks! 😏)
Then I saw a bunch of people (maybe two?) got ARCs for this book and I decided it was the perfect thing so I requested it on Netgalley and, wouldn‘t you know, they approved me the following day. When does that ever happen?!
I read it in 24 hours! It wasn‘t my favorite SY and I didn‘t really believe the original attraction to each other but it picked up in the middle. It‘s a pretty “classic” SY romance with all the angst that entails.

Incoming: a thread about vacation reading (or, sadly, the lack thereof).
Those three specks down by the water are my people. 😍
