In order to enjoy this book you have to suspend reality for a moment... imagine the super cheesy Hallmark Movie with the super cheesy characters and plot that you watch under your blankets at home with all the feels...but then when it‘s finished you immediately are like “ehh what‘s next.” all the feel-good Cinderella character tropes...rich “prince” saves poor “cinder-maid”....millionaire “saves” nurse/novice interior decorator.solid 3⭐️⭐️⭐️stars!

Do not judge a book by its cover, the cuteness of this cover does not do this book justice! This book had so much more than a love story, it felt so good reading a romance that felt grounded in a real life situation! I really liked how this was told from both Dax‘s perspective and Kailyn‘s perspective. There love story felt whole. 🥰. Author Helena Hunting is becoming a go-to author for me when I wanna read contemporary romance!5 heartfelt stars!

Warning: Not a popular opinion ahead! Ok... I tried to get into this book I really really did! I got about 25% in at 125 pages and I just found myself harrumphing everytime I went to go read this book.. books should make you feel joy, not feel like a chore.. I just found I really didn‘t care about the story, this just wasn‘t my cup of tea, but as usual; if it looks interesting to you go ahead and read it...it‘s just lil old me‘s opinion 🤷🏼‍♀️

Do not read this book alone in the dark like I did! Ghostly, creepy supernatural with a mystery thrown in, all the good stuff from a great Simone St. James book! The interwoven timelines of Carly Kirk looking for her missing aunt, Viv Delaney, at a haunted motel in the nowhere New York leads to an un-put-downable gripping read!If you loved "The Broken Girls", then do yourself a favor pick up “The Sun Down Motel” on sale February 18, 2020!

second-chance romance “The Good Luck Charm” . Lilah just can‘t seem to catch a break when it comes to love; first her dad leaves her as a kid, then her marriage fails and Ethan her highschool best friend/boyfriend abandons her for his hockey career. But when a close family friend falls ill, Ethan comes back to town and could they pick up where they left off!? So far a fast read with all the things I love about romantic comedies! 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟stars

“The Power” is about women all over the world discovering they have a power, the ability to electrify with a touch; to cause pain or even death! How would our world change if suddenly the patriarchy flipped on its head? This book makes you think, exposes so many underlying truths about our own reality as women in today‘s age! If you enjoyed The Handmaid‘s Tale or Vox this is a definitive must read!

Sometimes it is good to get out of your comfort zone and take a chance.I admit I was intimidated to start this, but I‘m so glad I did! Knowing nothing about immigrants to New Zealand and the native Maori tribes; I was swept up in the lives of Ida Lange, a German immigrant and Cat, a white child through precarious circumstances adopted by a native Maori tribe. I loved these strong women in a time when they had very few choices and hard lives.

Listened as an audiobook. If you are looking for a YA fluffy fantasy romance ...well...this is not for you! If you do want a heroine who is strong, adventure, war, dark fantasy then definitely check this one out! Love when a female character is strong and doesn‘t rely on others to get herself out of trouble! Highly recommend for all the fantasy readers out there!

Received as an ARC. At first I thought the dual story line would be confusing but Oh I could not put this one down! I had to stay up to finish it! Even though Lila Bennet is not the nicest person, you still can‘t help rooting for her... and although I eventually figured out one of the twists let‘s just say you don‘t see the end coming! @lisaandliz knocked this one out of the park! Highly recommend, such a fun read!

A great start to the Maggie Hope mystery series! This debut book has spies and WWII suspense, women making their way in the world, some historical fiction, a little mystery with the main character Maggie herself...very entertaining! I really liked that although Maggie is an educated woman in 1940‘s Britain, she still was a product of the times and had to navigate the beginning of women entering the workforce during the war. 4 out of 5 stars!

Librarybelle My mystery book group at the library read this one and loved it! A few of the members have since read the rest in the books in the series thus far. 5y

I really liked this sweet simple easy story of Clementine Haas, a girl who gets in a plane crash and has retrograde amnesia.there is a love story, but nothing is as it appears. Really this story is about identity and who makes you You, are you defined by family, your friends, your internal self, your actions or is it really a combination of everything.the twist at the end felt contrived.one of those that you really like or just go “ehhh”. 4 stars!

Where to start with this book..the plot and concept are unique and intriguing really makes you think about “what if only a few women were left on earth.. how would men handle it?”. My issue with this book is the writing style, a bit disjointed. made the story line erratic in parts. I did finish the book feeling like a bunch of questions were unanswered. I guess can‘t like them all, but read for yourself and make your own opinion!

A coming of age journey of Sam Hill, or “Sam Hell” , a boy born with ocular albinism “red eyes”; growing up different and finding inner self-acceptance. The author Robert Dugoni does an excellent job narrating his book. If you have an inner awkward child or been bullied or have felt out of place, this book will speak to you. A must read! 5 stars!

This is a story worth reading; everyone should learn about the unspoken truth of internment camps on American soul.We should never assume that our freedoms couldn‘t be taken away on a whim, between the fine line of individual freedoms and “national security”!
Having the story follow the Sontag family after their repatriation back to Germany really highlighted the struggle these interned families faced, they became caught between two worlds.

Rachbb3 I love this author. I definitely need to read some more of her books. 5y

This book will make you hopeful, sad, and angry at the same time! You realize that these women have been programmed to treat each other harshly as just another mechanism for their oppression. How can women change the system if they can‘t even help each other!? child brides, women‘s rights, political unrest, international interventions in their politics, tradition vs progress, a fundamentalist society, etc.ends with a ray of hope for Afghan women.

Honestly I didn‘t know if I would like this book but as a mom with a frantic life I could relate to Amy Byler on sooooo many levels! If you are a mom over 35 read this book! I laughed and so many times thought “Haha oh me too!” Amy‘s internal snark and outward cute nerd made me want to be her friend. I am very onboard with the idea of #momspringa.

Firstly I am a sucker for dystopian post-apocalyptic fiction, add in “zombies”, survival mode and people returning to their basic natures...I am sold! The real beauty of this book is how the survivors react to the end of civilization.. makes you wonder what type of person are you really.. would you help a stranger in need or is everyone out for themselves? Definitely will be finishing this trilogy.

This books alternate story lines between Elisa and Marisol really captured the struggle of the Cuban Revolution; how it disenfranchised the Cuban people and its effects even on Cuban-Americans generations later. finding your identity when you've not grown up in a country was something that I could relate to, being born in South Africa, growing up with South African values and culutre, but living in the United States apart from family. 5 stars!

So special getting to meet author Eldonna Edwards at the Adventures by the Book event last night, whose book Clover Blue is absolutely amazing!
Clover Blue is a special kind of story, that type of story where you really connect with the characters and get sucked into their world, their thoughts and their feelings. I thought Eldonna Edwards ability to get into the mind of a 12 year old boy shows just what a great writer she really is!

Listened as an audiobook and the narrators were good. I really wanted to like this since I love historical fiction, and this book is so heartbreaking but also quite frankly very depressing! The story was a bit slow in certain points, but the parts I did love were the author‘s poetic characterizations of Death. Overall 3.5 stars!

Listened as an audiobook. I enjoyed this light hearted read a nice break from the “heavier” reads. A story of love and friendship between four female childhood friends making their way in turn of the 20th century Boston. A true glimpse into the working lives of first generation Jewish and Italian immigrant children and how they contributed to their neighborhoods. Overall a nice story. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I‘d never heard of the Red Cross Clubmobile program during WWII.. these women‘s inspiration to the men at the front lines was brought to life! I felt like I was right there with Fiona, Viv, and Dottie and I would have wanted to be a Red Cross Clubmobile girl. If you love historical fiction about World War II era don‘t miss this book!
