This JR Ward series does not disappoint. I usually learn a bit about bourbon making while getting involved in the family's drama. I'm not sure how I would react in these situations as someone who didn't grow up with money or that kind of family history in one house.

This amuses me to no end. See, JR Ward lives in Louisville, KY, and Charlemont = Louisville. The parallels tickle me. There is really a Big Four Bridge, the IN neighbor is a combination of actual Jeffersonville and New Albany and the Ohio River is, well, really the Ohio River. I‘m not sure anyone not from here shares my amusement but it‘s one of my favorite things about these books 😁

Looks like this may become my new normal if my neighbor insists on blaring his/her music so loud I can't focus. Can't usually have music playing while I read but this "peaceful playlist" isn't bad. Hopefully they stop before I decide to go to bed otherwise I will be sleeping in my headphones.

If you ever want to feel happy about being 'poor,' this book will help you. The second in the series, it picks up right where The Bourbon Kings left off. I think the story wains a little bit, but it might be due to the novel moving things to what seems to be an epic crisis in the third novel. Either way, I can't wait to see where this train wreck is heading.

There is nothing like a good old southern drama; especially if it involves old money and Bourbon! And that is exactly what I got in this novel. I have so many questions...chiefly...who the hell is Edward covering for and why? Also, what is Gin planning for that husband of hers? Hello Books...one of the books I got for Christmas (via a gift card) is not pictured...but these are all my lovelies from the Holiday. I am most excited about the Sabaa Tahir and J.R. Ward books. #bookhauls #christmasswag

The story continues... I liked it much better than it's predecessor. Everyone got their shit together and realized that they live in the real world. Good character growth.

The writing style got annoying sometimes - Ward likes to use "okaaaaaay" A LOT, among other little quirks, but she can tell one hell of a cluster of a dramatic story.

Nice pick if you're looking for something a little crazy and fun.

So once I finished The Beast, I needed some more JR Ward. The Angels' Share is the second book in The Bourbon Kings series. This book continues the story of a youngest son trying to save his family's illustrious bourbon company after his tyrant of a father secretly bankrupted the company. Lots of family drama. I quite enjoy the series. #romantsy

I've tried three times to get into this one. Not happening. Only got to page 39. 😕

romance Audio I'm not sure why I bothered as the first one left me so dissatisfied. I like the idea (sort of) but loathe the characters. I can't a likeable trait in any of them. the religion thing bothered me a lot this time but I will probably read the third. Why? because the cliffhanger ending just annoyed me enough to care.

Fun trashy read full of hot mess people. Dallas meets Kentucky Bourbon. I'm a little concerned about the ending and book 3 though. I hope they don't all turn nice...
