“Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!” -Bram Stoker | Inspired by spooky, moonlit nights full of the Children of the Night, this candle is a combination of sandalwood, light fruits such as apple and pear, exotic florals, patchouli, vanilla, and a touch of orange. The scent is how I imagine a dark night full of moonbeams and magic might smell. #bookishcandles

“Your hair is winter fire.
January embers.
My heart burns there too.”

Introducing January Embers! It smells of creamed strawberries, açaí berries, and soft woods. It‘s one of 3 new IT-inspired candles! The other two being Losers Club and 29 Neibolt St!

I‘ll be posting all the new releases in my stories today, so check it out! And don‘t forget that you can get 20% off ALL weekend with the code MEMORIAL18 at checkout ?.

I‘ve been a little immersed in IT lately, and you‘ll see why next month 😉.

I can‘t really pinpoint the reason, but Pennywise is one of my favorite monsters. Stephen King makes him out to be anyone and everyone‘s worst nightmare, and there‘s not much more terrifying than your worst fears. .

Do you have a favorite monster?

Cheers! #bookishcandles #getfictional #pennywise

“When everyone knows you‘re a monster, you needn‘t waste time doing every monstrous thing.”

Dirtyhands. Bastard of the Barrel. Kaz Brekker. He‘s the anti-heroic hero. The savage genius.
His candle is a masculine and smooth combination of sweet revenge, tobacco, and wood. .

I enjoyed the different points of view in this book. I wasn‘t sure how I‘d like deviating from Darrow‘s point of view, but the Rising and it‘s effects now extend beyond him - and Brown is pretty much genius at bringing in the other characters. I feel like Iron Gold is meant to build up to a big bang in the next book. There seems to be a lot of set up for the next chapter. We‘re on the verge of an explosion, and I know it‘s going to be devastating.

Red Rising | Pierce Brown
post image

Not many books have made me ugly cry within the first few chapters, but Red Rising fits into that category. Eo triggered an entire upheaval across the solar system - a revolution I don‘t think even she expected. I have mixed feelings about her and her choices, but she believed in her cause and wasn‘t afraid to sacrifice everything she had.

I love how flawed Darrow is as a main character - he rarely gets things right the first time, but his resilience and ability to adapt and learn from his mistakes are what make him so strong. Seeing him overcome every shitty thing in book one, and ally with those who are supposed to be his enemies... It‘s so wonderfully complex and full of adrenaline. Read it now!

"There is a small monster in my brain that controls my doubt.
The doubt itself is a stupid thing, without sense or feeling, blind and straining at the end of a long chain. The monster though, is smart. It's always watching, and when I am cmpletely sure of myself, it unchains the doubt and lets it run wild. even when I know it's coming, I can't stop it."

I love this book so much.

There's potential here. The chemistry between Denna and Mare is undeniable but the path that leads them to through their journey poses a few doubts. There's so much that's explained away by the incompetence of other characters. I found it hard to believe that not one of them would listen to the concerns of our heroines, and as a result, the obstacles didn't feel real. I loved the relationships that were formed though and enjoyed the book overall.

Really enjoying Of Fire and Stars from December's @owlcrate - The roles the characters play both conform and rebel, and it's interesting to see the two butt heads a bit. To see how each inspires the other. I like it.

The story continues... I liked it much better than it's predecessor. Everyone got their shit together and realized that they live in the real world. Good character growth.

The writing style got annoying sometimes - Ward likes to use "okaaaaaay" A LOT, among other little quirks, but she can tell one hell of a cluster of a dramatic story.

Nice pick if you're looking for something a little crazy and fun.
