This was a reread for me but this time I read it aloud to my ten year old daughter. We both loved it but I struggled to get through the last few chapters as I was weeping so much I had trouble reading aloud. Thankfully my gorgeous empathetic child cuddled me tight while I struggled through. Truly I think everyone should read this book.

Borrowed this from the school library where I volunteer. It is short listed for The Children‘s Book Council of Australia award. It‘s in the senior section of our library. I really enjoyed. Needed a tissue or two. With my teacher hat on, I thought it would be a good book for a class study. Lots to talk about. Would love to hear what kids think of it. @MrsMalaprop

#Netgalley At 5, Lenny‘s little brother starts growing & doesn‘t stop. Her mother already has a lot on her plate: her husband left, money is tight, & the new encyclopedia set she won for the kids keeps coming up with hidden costs. The characterization in this #middlegrade book is exquisite & the encyclopedia sections are delightful. The 1970s setting & descriptive narration might be a hard sell to kids. Give to kids & adults who like a good cry.

I might have just started this book, and I know it‘s supposed to be a middle grade book, but it‘s written so beautifully I‘m already hooked and I know it will break my heart at the end!!! 😭 Anyone else read this yet? Read it if you get a chance! 🙌🏼💓

I‘m not usually a demanding person, today I‘m going to be. I‘m demanding you all get this book and read it. Now! It might be junior fiction but this is one of the most beautifully written, moving book I‘ve ever encountered. Every character felt like family, I truly loved them. But Lenny and Davey especially, their sibling relationship was complex and extraordinary. I wept at the ending, it was perfection though heartbreaking. #ozfiction

This is an absolutely delightful junior fiction novel. Makes me wish I had a class to read it to (and I rarely wish to return to the classroom!).

First selection from my birthday book haul (and first Litsy post) is Lenny's Book of Everything by Karen Foxlee. I loved it. It has been a while since I have sacrificed sleep for just one more chapter, just one more .. The characters are very special. It's a lovely book and I highly recommend it.
