Too unfocused. Abandoned it. #2018
Wonderfully written and gripping
Great suspense; 1st person; college campus; dark
I almost rated this as a pick, because I had fun reading it and had trouble putting it down. However, I think there was too much that was unbelievable and/or left unexplained. I would definitely be willing to give her other books a chance though.
One year ago, I posted my #firstpost to you #Littens. I had no idea how much love, bookish fun, and real life friendship I would find on this social media app. Thanks for a great first year and here's to many to come! #litsyversary
This was between a Pick and a So-So for me. The premise of an unresolved shooting on a college campus was unsettling but definitely kept my interest. I think it was the writing style that stalled it for me. The dialogue was halting at times, with many sentences of inner monologue and observations between each line in the conversation. Overall, though, this was a solid thriller with some unforeseen twists.
@rachelm recommended this on someone else's post about The Bullet, which I read and liked earlier this year. This looks like it could be really good! #blameitonLitsy #seasonsreadings2016 #lastbookyoustacked
If you enjoy thrillers and a university setting, then you'll love this.
I love book mail! This one isn't out until April so I can't tag it properly, but I'm excited to read it.
#firsteverlitsypost for #booktober :
almost six months ago and has one like.
I'm getting all sentimental because Litsy has truly encouraged me to read more. I've read more than forty books since joining because I love being involved in the conversation and all of you have such great recommendations!
Thank you littens!
Day 2's book completed late last night! A college teacher, Dr Emmet, is shot by a student who then kills himself. 10 months later, Dr Emmet returns with a burning question: why her?! The Black Hour was really good!! A little slow in spots but worth it. I never guessed who it was... "It's always darkest before it's light. That's why we call it the black hour."
Two perspectives in this mystery/thriller with each side "Miss Marple"ing without the other quite realizing it. Academic setting but don't need to be in academia to enjoy. Recommended!
"I felt like climbing the giant oak in our yard to the smallest branches until something snapped beneath my weight."
About halfway through so far and using a card my niece made me as a bookmark. The bookmark is way too cheery for this suspense...
