The Bone Garden
The Bone Garden: The Wesley Peterson Series: | Kate Ellis
12 posts | 5 read | 7 to read
An excavation at the lost gardens of Earlsacre Hall is called to a halt when a skeleton is discovered under a 300 year old stone plinth, a corpse that seems to have been buried alive. But DS Wesley Peterson has little time to indulge in his hobby of archaeology. He has a more recent murder case to solve. A man has been found stabbed to death in a caravan at a popular holiday park and the only clue to his identity is a newspaper cutting about the restoration of Earlsacre. Does local solicitor Brian Willerby have the answer? He seems eager to talk to Wesley but before he can reveal his secret he is found dead during a 'friendly' game of village cricket, apparently struck by a cricket ball several times with some force. If Wesley is looking for a demon bowler this appears to let out most of the village side. But what is it about Earlsacre Hall that leads people to murder?

Wesley Peterson number 5. Eastacres estate is being rehabilitated and old bones are found. A murder is committed in a caravan park. Who is the victim? These two story lines interweave in this intriguing story. I enjoy the intertwining of the ancient story with the current day

Book mail truly is the best mail! Especially on a day like today, when it‘s pouring rain with a chill in the air, even though the temperature is in the 50s. On a Kate Ellis kick thanks to @Andrew65 #blameitonlitsy

Bodies are found buried under a plinth in a Queen Anne garden being excavated and restored and a petty thief finds a dead body in a holiday caravan.

As usual, I enjoyed watching the police and archaeological investigations and the parallels between them.

A skeleton of a corpse who has been buried alive is discovered at an excavation of the gardens of Earlsacre Hall. Det Sgt Wesley Peterson is busy trying to solve a murder of a man stabbed to death in a caravan park. Are these murders related? Solicitor Brian Willerby may have the answer. Kate Ellis brings us a mystery that seems to imitate the past. Read this to find out what it is about Earlsacre that leads to murder.

Andrew65 Think I liked this one and the series more than some others. A very typical English feel to this murder mystery series. Most US Crime is much faster paced and often more gritty. Obviously some exceptions to this on both sides of the pond. (edited) 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 The only complaint I have about her writing is that her writing does not flow well for me. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB It might be about her use of English, because i‘ve not noticed this. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes, her language is a bit stilted. 4y

It‘s that time again. Time for the next Group Read on Librarything of book 5 in the Wesley Peterson Series - we are aiming to read the whole series (currently 23 books). This is the schedule for the Group Read. If you are Interested in joining in let me know below - they are great fun and I definitely recommend the series. A mixture of archaeology and a Modern Murder, and a back story from history.
