The Woman Inside
The Woman Inside | E. G. Scott
An impossible-to-put-down domestic thriller about secrets and revenge told from the perspectives of a husband and wife who are the most perfect, and the most dangerous, match for each other. Rebecca didn't know love was possible until she met Paul, a successful, dashing, married man with a past as dark as her own. Their pain drew them together with an irresistible magnetism; they sensed that they were each other's perfect (and perhaps only) match. But twenty years later, Paul and Rebecca are drowning as the damage and secrets that ignited their love begin to consume their marriage. They are both cheating on each other, but Paul's affairs get messy, and fast. His first mistress is stalking them with growing audacity when Rebecca discovers Paul's elaborate plan to build a new life without her. And though Rebecca is spiraling into an opiate addiction, it doesn't stop her from coming up with a devious plot of her own, and this one could end absolutely everything. What follows is an unpredictable and stylish game of cat-and-mouse--a shocking tale of unfaithfulness and unreliability that will keep you racing until the final shocking twist and wondering how much you know your spouse.

I was hoping for another twisty domestic thriller- and while this one is that, it‘s perhaps more accurately a book about horrible people doing horrible things. That can sometimes be fun, but there‘s not enough balance here... the plot crosses from unpredictable to just implausible and there legitimately is no one to root for... But, I suppose it did hold my interest enough that I finished it... #AudioColoring

This explosive novel is about secrets, lies and revenge. Told through multiple first-person narrators, this domestic thriller jumps between past and present. There are a few instances where you may be confused by the timeline, but the narrative gets back on track for the last part where the authors ratchet up the suspense to a frenzied finish. The pace is why this book works—the whiplash speed does not leave much time to ponder the plot holes.

This concept really isn‘t original to me after reading so many books with similar ideas, beginning with Gone Girl. This wasn‘t terrible - it was still a fun read even though it was pretty predictable. I just was expecting a newer idea in this one.

The pain of having 80 pages left, but I have to go to bed now in order to be up and out of the house at 3:30AM.

I'm thinking of taking a note card to write a "You found me, enjoy me" message for someone to find at the airport.

I should be sleeping, but this book is all consuming. Cheating husband. Pill popping wife. 2 missing women. My goodness it's f**ked up. Love it!

After an extremely odd day at work (a 20 out of 10 on the crazy scale), I'm happy to relax for a while before I catch some Z's.

Today I forced myself to have a "spa day" at home. It's amazing what self care can do for your soul when you're in a low place. I even picked up my book for the first time as well.

Next week I fly back home to be with my family.

This book definitely had me hooked, but then the ending was ridiculous. Not as happy as I thought I would be.

While this book had me on my toes, the ending was definitely like WTF? Personally I didn‘t like the writing in the beginning with all of the back and forth. There were two characters Sasha and Sheila with similar names that kept throwing me off until about halfway through the book... but the worst part is the ending 🤦‍♀️😩

The best thing about the picture is the bbq tofu tacos ??
Sadly, this "domestic thriller" was weird and lacking for me. I felt it to be super unbelievable with crazy plot points thrown in. Oh well, the #audiobook was a quick listen from #libby that served as a nice palate cleanser from some more heavy reads.

My newest #audiobook from #libby-- labeled "domestic thriller". This is so terrible of me, but it's somewhat of a relief to be in the modern world with no crazy creatures after my last audiobook (Black Leopard, Red Wolf). I was seriously taxed listening to that one and this one takes wayyy less brain power ?? am I becoming a lazy, fluffy reader?? ?

ravenlee Nothing wrong with enjoying a light, palate-cleansing read every so often. 6y

This book was completely f#*%ed up and I loved it. 😂🤣 There was not one single character to like (minus policemen and Duff) and still I couldn‘t not read it. It‘s definitely over the top and not believable but so much fun. I definitely wanted to see who won the cat and mouse game. I love this author‘s mind. Definitely recommend. 😬

A little too confusing and all over the place for me. The middle has some potential, but it just didn‘t all go together for me. 🥴

I had a vague feeling about the one twist, but that‘s not a bad thing. And now, I‘ve got a sneaking suspicion this is all going to go horribly wrong for our protagonists.

Dutton books sent me this ARC. And while I found it a bit scattered at the beginning, I started taking notes to organize my thoughts and now it‘s unputdownable.

Reading The Woman Inside by E.G. Scott before it debuts on the 22nd - hailed as being twisty and thrilling (I‘m on a thriller binge right now it seems).

I‘m certainly intrigued at almost 100 pages in, but I also feel like I need to start taking notes. I don‘t know if it‘s the alternating narrators AND timelines or if it‘s an intentional confusion to mimic a drug addiction?

I don‘t know what the heck is going on here yet!

Also curious as to ⬇️

Smangela What two writers make up E. G. Scott - Im trying to figure out if my disconnect with Rebecca is just because of vastly different lives or if it‘s because it‘s a man writing a woman‘s POV? Anyone else reading? (edited) 6y

Flawed characters? Nope, these characters are loathsome (except for the detectives) but it‘s such a fun plot with twists at every turn! Paul an Rebecca are the “perfect couple” but love and dysfunction are so tied together that their marriage is doomed. Unreliable narrators, secrets, lies, infidelity, and regrets all lead to a totally unexpected ending! Debut novel from two writers.
Thanks to Dutton for this ARC!
