Shane has been doing college all wrong. Pre-med, stellar grades, and happy parents...sounds ideal -- but Shane's made zero friends, goes home every weekend, and romance...whats that? Her life has been dorm, dining hall, class, repeat. Time's a ticking, and she needs a change -- there's nothing like moving to a new country to really mix things up. Shane signs up for a semester abroad in London. She's going to right all her college mistakes: make friends, pursue boys, and find adventure! Easier said than done. She is soon faced with the complicated realities of living outside her bubble, and when self-doubt sneaks in, her new life starts to fall apart. Shane comes to find that, with the right amount of courage and determination one can conquer anything. Throw in some fate and a touch of magic - the possibilities are endless.

Adorable premise (there‘s a magical twist) but the story was executed poorly. I didn‘t fall in love with the characters and hated the heroine‘s family. And not in a good way. In an author-took-this-too-far-and-they‘re-toxic kind of way.

This was wasn‘t the best book I‘ve ever read, but it was entertaining. The romance was predictable but sweet and I really enjoyed the narration, especially in the second half. My main complaint is that all of the unnecessary clothing descriptions and pop culture referenced pulled me out of the story.

I loved the book .It show many of 20years old girls life. However Why do people keep writing about main characters crushing on boys with girlfriends? I like the book but that little tid bit reeks of so much desperation. However, once you get to the best part it‘s an amazing read. I couldn‘t put it down once they went back. It was the best plot twist and just..so amazing. Is all I can really say. I loved it so much.

My favorite part of this book is the multitudes of travel locations mentioned and well described throughout the story. A lot of the places were old travel locations of mine so it made me quite nostalgic. I did have the hardest time understanding what was the point of this book in the first half since it didn't seem like it had a plot. I only started understanding after the magical element halfway through the book. (Which is just weird).

Halfway through the book and WHAT‘S WITH THAT PLOT TWIST! Honestly was not expecting a magical element at this point in the story.

I tried to like this book but it was a bit too slow-moving for me. Also, for a 20y/o, the MC was so naive and inexperienced, bordering on whiny. Which might be fine, but there was no explanation or hints as to why she was that way.

TheAromaofBooks I really struggle when the MC is a whiner! 4y

I said before that I was finally getting into this book, but holy geeze it's taken a HUGE turn! 6 years later, the story continues and the main characters reunite and are thrown into what we could say is a precarious position. I'm so excited to see what the two main characters decide to do as they face an interesting situation. Is it going to be an easy decision to make for both? An easy decision for just one character? Only the pages will tell.

Ok. Now I'm getting into this book. I thought it would be a typical Sarah Dessen-type "girl meets boy" romance, but I'm liking the mysterious twist this book is starting to take. I'm really wanting to know what's going to happen next.

This is another random audiobook I borrowed from the library, but it was not a winner for me. I lost interest quickly after the narrator made a big deal out of being 20 and never having kissed or had sex before. That's always a killer for my interest in a story because I've never considered it all that necessary. The first hour failed to capture my interest after losing it so quickly. #collegelife

My feelings towards this YA book went from being annoyed at the naivete of the main character to getting sucked into the interesting turn the book took 2/3 of the way in. It went from a 2 star to a 4 star book because of it. It was a fun read, a great distraction from this stressful covid-19 world!

⭐/5. Gave up around page 50. Not my cuppa tea. The characters lacked personality, main character came across as immature and whiney.

I really liked the idea of this before I picked it up, but it fell flat for me. I didn‘t like the writing, didn‘t like the characters, and the plot was interesting but not well executed. I‘ve been following the author on YouTube for years and I was both kind of annoyed and disappointed that this read like a badly written memoir with a fantastical twist.

I hadn‘t heard anything about the details of this book, but it was at the library so I gave it a try. The first half of the book which resides in 2011 reads like an adolescent journal more than a book. After that we speed up to 2017 and back to redo 2011. I do enjoy the second half better, but find the story thin and somewhat predictable. I enjoy a happy ending, but it did feel all wrapped up in a nice bow, but who doesn‘t like a nice bow.

I enjoyed this lighthearted read! It‘s about Shane and her study abroad experience - it starts stellar, with a romance blooming, but falls flat. Then it gets a magical twist - she and her would-be beau meet six years later and get a chance to do that summer over again. It‘s a cute story, and I liked how Shane grew into an independent woman while also exploring romance.

For me this was a cute, light and relatable story. The beginning half (part 1) was tough to get into and at one point I was going to put the book down and read something else, but because I'm stubborn and wanted to finish it sooner rather than later, I pushed through. Once I got to the second part of the book I began enjoying it much more! I have a longer review on my website, kendrascorner.wixsite.com/website. :)

I wanted to like this so badly. It feels like a betrayal to give a negative review to a BookTuber. It feels personal because I feel like I know her from her videos. I'm happy for her for getting published but this was hard to get through. I can only imagine how much personal stuff she included in the narrative but it seemed too similar yet contrived. Sorry Christine.

I finished this book several days ago, and I'm still trying to figure out quite how I feel. I read this for #barnesandnoble #YAbookclub bc I work at a b&n part time and agreed to lead the teen book club. I hated the characters' names, for sure! And I was definitely annoyed that for most of the book, the main character kept destroying her chances at friendship and career betterment bc she was so focused on a boy. ⬇️

rjsthumbelina However, I thought that there was a ton of character growth by the end, even if I thought the progression of it was rushed. As far as the romance, I hated that she was pining after a guy with a girlfriend. But as the story continued, it seemed like that was an intentional choice, showing that love isn't convenient or logical. Overall, I would say ⭐⭐⭐ 6y

“Again, but Better” was witty and charming! If you‘re a book tube fan, you know that Shane IS Christine! Many have criticized this, but I found it an interesting aspect of the book. For it being a debut novel, I think it is pretty good! I‘m not going to claim to love everything about it, but generally speaking I enjoyed reading it!

Rated 4/5 on GR :)

Okay. The first half was not great, and it was a bummer because I subscribe to Riccio‘s YouTube channel, and I know how much this novel means to her. I‘m glad I stuck with it though, because the last half of the book was actually pretty good and took a turn I legitimately was not expecting.

I tried so hard to get into this one. But I have to say this should have aged down. The writing wasn‘t the worse that I‘ve read. But making the POV this girl who is 20 and then 26 was crazy. This was more new adult than teen. But the writing itself made her sound more like she was 15 or 16. The writing was very juvenile. And you could tell how not very fleshed out the story was.

Omg, I am only on Ch. 3 and I am already in love with Shane. She is so freaking adorable. Her inner dialogue on her quest to be more outgoing and social is hilarious. She has a social anxiety which makes her a little more than awkward around others because she second guess herself too much. I am excited to see her complete her “list“.

This novel was the epitome of cuteness and relatability. The main character Shane not only has social anxiety like me but totally nerds out on things. I really enjoyed all the pop culture references including the harry potter and Taylor swift ones. I really could relate to Shane's way of thinking and her thought process. The love interest in this book is adorable and unique.

Thank you to all the Littens who have been talking about how amazingo this book is. Without you this amazing book would have probably sit on my bookshelf for months if not longer unread. This book gave me all the feels. At times I could see adult me in Shane. I am so glad she took the risks and followed her dreams in the end! Can't wait to see what this authors write next! 4/4.5 stars ⭐️🌟⭐️ 🌟 for this sweet, enjoyable quick read. It‘s the feel-good story I needed to read. A tale about college and growing up, and a little bit of magic; I thoroughly enjoyed this debut novel.

Ready to discuss it at #BookClub today; I wasn‘t sure I was going to finish in time #ButIDid

Finished in under 7 hours in a single day. 👏🏼
