I'm gonna say this is like The Shining meets The Yellow Wallpaper. At least so far. I'm sure there are unexpected twists ahead though

Um. No. I almost gave it a so-so rating because I did read the whole thing, but I was either incredulous or annoyed and by the end I really, really wanted to chuck the book across the room. Sarah and her husband Patrick and their teenage children Mia and Joe move to Patrick‘s childhood home on the Welsh seaside. It was the scene of a horrible triple murder years ago. There‘s clearly some bad energy but WHO CARES? Just, yuck.
Not done, but I'm loving it so far. A little horror, smidge of tension & a dash of thriller
Finished this today while I was cleaning the house and working on a craft project. It was a decent story. I found my attention drifting some times but it was a good enough story for me to finish. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Between a pick and a so so. It was good but just dragged on a bit in the middle, the ending was clever. No picture as I deleted the book first
This was an interesting story but it did seem to drag in the middle. I found myself wanting to skip to the end. There was lots of mystery and intrigue in the story. The ending was really good though, some brilliantly clever twists though I did figure some things out. A good thriller

How is it possible for a main character to be used up and abused and still be unlikable? Normally I can get behind an underdog character, I get excited to see her finally kickass but eh... she never does. The over story isn't awful though.
Alrighty, I'll give it a 3.75 star rating. While this is filled to the brim of every overused trope, plot device and twists - chock full!! - those pages were turning quickly. I burned through this one and wanted to find out how it ended, even though I knew already. It was a good book club book but I've got to be done for a long, long time with the thriller/suspense books! 😊😊
I'm on page 58 (of 345) and I have a strong suspicion I know exactly how this is going to go. I need to put those thoughts aside and just read it though. Give it a chance, give it room to breathe. Please don't be as predictable as I think I see it being. 🙏
Our in-person picked this one for our June meeting. I'll be reading it soon, as soon as I finish The Broken Wheel book.
I read 110 pages of the book but NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. It was the slowest 110 pages. I‘m not sure if the story picked up after I stopped reading, but I needed SOME excitement to want to keep reading.
Book mail day! The summary for this book is giving me serious American Horror Story vibes and I am here for it!!! Thanks to @grandcentralpub for my copy of this book!
This one was difficult to rate for me. On one hand, the plot was good & it was suitably dark, but the MC was frustrating. 3.5 🌟(a pick but with reservations).
TW: psychological abuse, physical abuse, & sexual assault.
Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Little Brown Book Group / Sphere, for the opportunity to review an ARC.
