Die Again
Die Again | Tess Gerritsen
In Boston, Detective Jane Rizzoli and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles investigate a bizarre murder. A man has been found gutted and hanging in his home. When the remains of another victim are found, it is clear that this murderer has been at work for years, and not just in Boston. Five years ago, a group of travellers set off on an African safari. None of them was seen again - apart from one woman who stumbled out of the bush weeks later, barely alive. The only woman to have seen the killer's face. Has the 'safari killer' resurfaced in Boston? Jane is sent to Africa to find the one link between the two cases - the only survivor. And convince her to face death once again ...

Too bloody, gory and graphic for me, but I hung in there because I wanted to find out what the truth was for what happened in Botswana. I was right and yet I was wrong and I can‘t say more without spoiling it for you. When a Boston murder occurs, Maura is convinced it is a serial killer. Yet everyone else thinks she‘s letting her imagination run wild.

Yes, I read this book out of order so that I could get #Botswana completed for #ReadingAfrica2022, but I'm definitely going to be going back to the start!

5 🌟

Librarybelle This series has a lot of love, and I didn‘t realize this one had a Botswana element! Awesome! 2y

This one was so refreshing after the last few duds. The zoology connection and the red herrings really spiced up an otherwise grim situation. This book features dual timelines that intertwine to form the pattern of a killer. Jane and Maura have their friendship tested when they disagree about the connections in several cases. These cases will take Jane to South Africa on the hunt for something far more dangerous than a leopard. She hunts a human.

It has been years since I read a Tess Gerritsen. It was a good read although I annoyed myself by skipping to the end to see who was the perpetrator. Making the middle of the book less exciting. But still a good read. And nice to spend some time in Botswana.
This was my #doublespin for April. @TheAromaofBooks

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The best Rizzoli and Isles so far. I loved how the story was told with back and forth chapters from Botswana to Boston. It was a terrific book that had me hooked from page one to the end.

Book 1/20 complete for my #crushtherush goal. @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick
Book 1 complete for #progressitnovember. Only one R&I book left to finish the series. @Andrew65

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick You're off to a great start! 3y

With two months left in the year, I'm going to try to finish 20 more books to reach my goal. I'm confident with the incentive of #crushtherush, #progressitnovember, and the #wintergames2020, it'll be easy peasy. Starting off today with Die Again, the 11th Rizzoli and Isles book.

@Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @Andrew65 @Clwojick @StayCurious

Clwojick I have a random book from this series. Do you think they‘d be okay to read out of order? 3y
Traci1 @Clwojick the first one i read was book 3 or 4. Then I went back and started at the beginning. I think it's ok. There's some main character(s) development, but mostly these are about the case they're working. I don't remember there being any major spoilers if you were to go back and read the earlier ones. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick 2.5 books a week sounds perfectly achievable. Good luck! 3y

I think I'm going to try to focus most of November on series (serieses??) that I'm close to completing or catching up with. My main goals will be with the following:

Supernatural - 3
Rizzoli and Isles - 2
Sisters Grimm - 3
Firefly - 2
In Death - like 47...(probably won't catch up with these 😁)

#progressitnovember
@Andrew65

Andrew65 What you won‘t catch up with the In Death series 🤣 Great to have you with us and some good series. 3y
rabbitprincess I am always astounded by the number of books in the In Death series 😆 3y
Traci1 @rabbitprincess right? If one were the suspicious sort, they might wonder if one person is writing them all. 🤔 😄 3y

The theme of this mystery is hunters and the hunted. Who is hunting whom? The plot is well laid out and suspenseful, the characters are decently rounded, and I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied by the plot twists at the end.

But if this was not a book club book, I would have quit around 25%. Too much gore, people torn apart by animals, rotting viscera, clinical autopsy details. As it shifted from gore to the puzzle, I got hooked. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

This time is about hunting. Instead of animals, this hunter is hunting humans. It all started 6 years ago when 9 strangers went to Africa to experience the wild but only 2 survive. The ran away prey and the hunter. I enjoy this 📚. #tessgerritsen #suspense #ebook

#JubilantJuly #day5 #Workaholics Both Detective Jane Rizzoli & ME Maura Isles are workaholics. To the both of them, their jobs are their life, are who they are. Jane has made a better effort at having a life outside of work, she's married to FBI agent Gabriel Dean & has a little girl, but she's still a cop through & through. Maura has nothing else in her life except for work, especially in the later books when her affair with a priest has ended.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

First off, I have a confession... I like the Rizzoli and Isles tv show better than the books. That doesn't make me a terrible person, does it? Maybe you shouldn't answer that. 😂

Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Iles series is one of my favourite mystery series and this latest book (#11) is as exciting as the first one! The characters are smart, likeable strong women and the writing is intelligent, fluid and engrossing. If you haven't yet, I urge you to give this series a try.

Rizzoli and Isles #11. I love Gerritsen and this series but I feel like this should have been one of her stand alone novels. The most interesting and thrilling chapters were the those in Africa and R&I felt less important in this one. I did not have it figured out like I thought though. 😁 3🌟
