The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories
The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories | Agatha Christie
12 posts | 14 read | 18 to read
Agrand treasure for fans of the grande dame of mystery, The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories brings together nine rare and brilliant Christie tales of murder and detection that span nearly half a century of her storytelling genius. In "The Mystery of the Spanish Chest," Hercule Poirot unravels the psychological conundrums that motivate a killer. . . . In "The Actress," a great star's shady past becomes the plaything of a blackmailer. . . . In "The Harlequin Tea Set," Mr. Harley Quin helps a man save his loved ones from the greedy hand of murder. These and six other stories of danger and detection complete this truly stellar collection.

Several good stories, including Poirot & Mr. Quin stories. I think I‘ve completed all of Christie‘s books with this one. Most of the ones I read this year were audio, & I‘m sure I‘ll revisit my favorites.

These short stories are very different from other Christie stories. They have a different atmosphere and mood, and many aren‘t detective stories at all. It‘s a very gray day here, but the clouds held off for the Arts & Crafts Festival, so that was nice. It was a chilly but nice day to stroll Fairhope and look at people‘s creations. #audiowalk

lynneamch Had a really lovely lunch there at Hope Farms a couple weeks ago. And, of course, a stop at Page & Palette and Latte Da. 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks So pretty 💚 2y
KathyWheeler @lynneamch I haven‘t been to Hope Farms. I‘ll have to check it out. 2y
KathyWheeler @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks This is the University of South Alabama campus. When I first interviewed here, in 1992, it was the ugliest campus I‘d ever been on. They‘ve improved it so much over the years. Now I love to walk there. 2y

If you‘ve only read Agatha Christie‘s novel-length murder mysteries, you‘re missing out. She wrote tons of atmospheric, even downright creepy short stories. This collection has some good ones. I highly recommend exploring Christie‘s short stories to gain a deeper appreciation of her talent. #52bookclub2023 #publishedposthumously

azulaco My favorite stories are the ones featuring Mr. Harley Quin. Those always have some kind of karmic justice. The creepiest Christie story I ever read was The Dressmaker‘s Doll. It‘s in the collection Double Sin, and also in The Last Seance. 2y
azulaco @AshleyHoss820 @Cinfhen Scribd has a bunch of Christie story collections, as well as tons of her stories as stand-alone ebooks. 2y
Cinfhen Thanks!! I love Scribd 💜😁 2y
AshleyHoss820 @azulaco Scribd to the rescue! One of the best subscriptions I have. 🧡📚 2y

This turned up on YouTube so I listened while I was keeping cool inside with the air con and a jigsaw. Short and enjoyable. Agatha Christie wrote so much and I‘d not heard of this story. Perfect for a hot West Aussie afternoon. In my much younger days I would have been at the beach! I used to love the heat, Not so much anymore. I‘m sending warm thoughts to those in the deep freeze of North Eastern US .

I enjoy Agatha Christie mysteries, but I was hoping for more Hercule Poirot shorts. This one only had one.

LiteraryinPA I LOVE her novels but am not big on the short stories. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y

Finishing the last short story in this book, which is the titled story. Enjoyed these stories- not all murder mysteries but mysteries of the heart & life. A reminder to me of how skilled Christie is about the emotions of the human heart in all its beauty & ugliness. Motivations are never simple, or black & white.

Linsy Love that cover! ☕️ 5y
kspenmoll Me too- and that short story was last & I loved it! 5y

Sirens seem to be appearing in my reading everywhere!

This is the best book of short stories by A.C. I've read and I think I've read most of them. Every story was great and hard to pick a favorite. ❤

Nach dem gestrigen Debakel heute die Rettung im Buchoutlet. 😂 Wenn man #AgathaChristie sammelt, hat man mächtig Arbeit.

Yesterday's book shopping was bad, so today I took some more. 😁 If you collect Agatha Christie books, you have many to search for.

Tasau Buchoutlet?
