At twenty-six years old, Finley Matthews is done writing for other people as a ghostwriter. She's tired of seeing her work with someone else's name slapped on the cover. She wants to make a name for herself, even if it means starting from scratch. But when she runs into the mysterious novelist Emerson Whittaker twice in twelve hours, and he convinces her to take on one final ghostwriting project in return for good money and a promising meeting with his literary agency upon completion of the project, she accepts whole-heartedly. This could be her way into the daunting literary world. Besides, what could possibly go wrong? Soon, Finley finds herself captivated by the enigmatic and attractive Emerson. And there's something about Finley that Emerson can't ignore, either. They soon find themselves helping and needing each other in more ways than one, and eventually, they fall in love between the pages of Emerson's book. As the months continue, Finley works with Emerson to get his story on paper. She begins to uncover things about him she wishes she never knew; piecing together Emerson's past, one chapter at a time-a past with a secret even she can't ignore. A passionate tale of friendship, romance, and betrayal, Between the Pages will immerse readers in the provocative world of Finley and Emerson from the very first page.

I generally try to read 100 a day, but in July I only averaged out to around 75. Do you have a daily page goal?

Literary_Siren No. I feel it takes away from what I‘m reading if I‘m concerned about how many pages I read. I read until I have to do something else. I might read zero or 200+ but I don‘t keep track. 6y
LiteraryinLawrence Interesting question. I don‘t. Some days I‘m in a serious reading mood and can read a whole book, and other days I don‘t read at all. 6y
DGRachel I try for at least 20 minutes of reading a day, whatever that translates into. I find if I force myself to a page count, I lose some of the joy of reading. The only time I‘ll do a page count is if I have a stack of library books and a deadline, then I try to figure out how many pages I have to read each day to get through. 6y

2BR02B @Literary_Siren That's fair. It can be a fine balance between pushing yourself to read more and pushing yourself to the point where reading is no longer enjoyable. 6y
2BR02B @LiteraryinLititz Same here, although I do read more days than not. 6y
2BR02B @DGRachel That's exactly what I'm doing. I have so much to read in August that I'm trying to create a timetable. 😆 6y
Bronte_Chintz I don‘t at the minute, but I really think I need to set myself a target! 6y
2BR02B @Bronte_Chintz I think it makes it a little easier to stay accountable for reading goals- when I set goals of reading x number of books I find myself avoiding books over 350 pages. 6y
Bronte_Chintz @2BR02B l‘ve found that. It starts to put you off some of the bigger texts. Setting a number of pages seems much better! 6y
jfalkens I try for 100 pages a day but try not to stress if I don't make it. It definitely makes it easier to tackle the big books if you can see it has 1,000 pages for example and it feels daunting but if you say read 100 pages a day then it'll only take 10 days so it helps make it feel manageable. 6y
Kaye Nope. No expected goals per day. If I read at all , it‘s an achievement. That‘s as good as it gets here lately. I don‘t like required reading. I‘ve been out of school for decades. 6y
CouronneDhiver No. I‘m with @Kaye I just go with the flow now... 6y
everlocalwest I love hearing people's thoughts on this! I aim for 50 pages before work and 50 pages after. Usually I read more than the requisite 50 at night but I suffered major reading burnout about a year ago (from forcing myself to read more for work than for myself) and this plan keeps me on my work goals (the 50 in the morning) and happy with personal reading (at night). 6y
Q84 I do try to read every day but not lately. The page number depends on what books I want to have read during the week/month. Right now if I want to finish all the books I have on my pile this year I need to read 6bks a wk. I need to read 215 pg. Daily this month. That is so not going to happen expecially with my work schedule. But I will try to get to as much as I can read. 6y
Beachesnbooks I don't. I'm a mood reader, so some days I read a ton and sometimes go a few days with no reading. 6y
rather_be_reading i try for 100 a day also 6y

I love that #GoodReads puts this compilation together every year but I‘m still reading and I have more books to enter 🙄😜I wasn‘t surprised to see my star rating was an average of 3.4....I‘m stingy with stars🤷🏼‍♀️Just wanted to say thanks to all of you wonderful readers who really inspired me this year, with your awesome posts, recommendations, giveaways and gift exchanges💕📚💕📚💕 can‘t wait for 2018 #AttacktheStack

Cinfhen @minkyb I can‘t believe I actually read GWTW!!! #BigBookMoniter @Reviewsbylola @Mdargusch @emilyhaldi deserve a prize for holding my hand and keeping me on track 😘😘😘 6y
AshleyHoss820 I'm a little stingy with stars too! 3 means I liked it. 4 means I loved it. 5 means it's a Desert Island Book...also, you got a lot of pages read this year! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Exactly @AshleyHoss820 ❣️❣️❣️what were your five star reads this year??? 6y
See All 36 Comments
AshleyHoss820 @Cinfhen Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy & And Then There Were None and that's it...man, I'm a Star Scrooge! 😂😂😂 6y
BarbaraJean I love these, too—but am refusing to look at mine until I finish a few more books!! It‘s too early, Goodreads! (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Oooh, u might be stingier than me @AshleyHoss820 😱😉 it is fun to see though @BarbaraJean but I agree, it‘s too early!!! They should post it Jan 1!!! 6y
Kalalalatja @BarbaraJean I'm the same! I might not read a lot more, but I'm not finished yet 😄 6y
LeahBergen Nicely done! I‘m pretty stingy, too. 😉 6y
Cinfhen So @LeahBergen share your 5 star reads!!?!? 6y
emilyhaldi Perhaps we can turn you into a #chunksterlover after all!!!❤️😂 6y
Cinfhen Wouldn't put money on that @emilyhaldi! 😉 6y
Traveler13 My star average is 3.1. I‘m as stingy as they come and feel no regrets. 6y
Cinfhen Fabulous @Traveler13 glad to see so many who take their stars seriously!!!! 🤓 (edited) 6y
scripturient Yes! But why does Goodreads post these so early? I‘m not finished. 🤷🏻‍♀️ BTW, do you happen to know how quickly Israel Post usually processes packages once they are through customs? I would have expected it to be there by now but it still says ‚forwarded for sorting‘. One week go go till 21/12. Hope they‘ll manage to deliver it until then. 😘 6y
Cinfhen Israel Post can be super frustrating 😠 @scripturient you‘re a saint!!! I know you posted that package weeks ago! I‘m checking my mail EVERY DAY compulsively for a package slip...and @Maike I‘m still hoping my package reaches you in time...it says processing😫😫😫 6y
scripturient @Cinfhen Yes, that‘s frustrating. It would have been faster if I‘d driven the package to Israel in my car. 🙄🙈😂 I really hope it gets there soon!!! 6y
tricours My average rating was 3.1! 6y
Maike @Cinfhen I have a package slip at home, but can‘t get to the post office until Saturday. According to tracking info it‘s an international package, so unless my ordered magic chest box arrived way too early I think it may be yours 😁😁 6y
batsy I do think it's too soon, as well, since I'm still working on my longest book (a giant collection of Christmas mysteries!) And my average star rating is 3.5 😀 6y
Cinfhen Oooooh!!! That's exciting @Maike 🤗🤗🤗hope its mine😘😘 6y
Cinfhen Harsh @tricours 😜😘😘 @batsy is a smidgeon more generous than us 💜 6y
Cinfhen I'll be sure to tag you as soon as I have my package @scripturient 💟😊😘 6y
nickimags Definitely too sure for this. I'll be reading and reviewing until the end of the year. 6y
GatheringBooks i know what you mean! i don‘t usually check this until the 31st, because it ain‘t over til it‘s over :) 6y
Mdargusch GWTW is probably the longest book I‘ll ever read! 6y
actualdisneyprincess Where do you find this compilation on Goodreads? I‘m so curious to see the numbers behind my reading this year! :) 6y
Pamwurtzler @actualdisneyprincess Goodreads should send you an email with a link in it. Great handle, by the way! 😀 6y
actualdisneyprincess @Pamwurtzler thank you!! 💖 on both counts!! ;) ✨ 6y
Reviewsbylola Mine was 3.9! 6y
Gezemice Congrats! Great year! I am generous with stars - four is I liked it, five is that I loved it. Three is meh. Because I pick books I think I would like, my average is 4.2. My average would be higher if it wasn't for book club reads, lol. Those are not my picks so higher chance of low ratings. (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Me too!!!! @Mdargusch if you go to your home page @actualdisneyprincess NOT through the app you will see a box that says your 2017 reading journey /year and if you click on it you'll get your stats!!! 6y
Cinfhen You are wayyyyyyy to generous @Reviewsbylola 😂😂 6y
Cinfhen @Gezemice that's how I feel 3 stars is ok, 4 stars is good & 5 stars is excellent!! I agree, bookclub reads can be a real star slasher!!! Although this year we read some very good books!!! 6y
Reviewsbylola For sure I am! 😂😂 6y
LeahBergen @Cinfhen Well, one of my 5 star reads is Lonesome Dove. 😬 😂😂 6y

Here are my stats for 2017! I won‘t make my goal of 150 books but will have a couple more by the end of the year. #GoodreadsStats2017

britt_brooke 🙌🏻🙌🏻 6y
Linear Only 4 people read that book?! How are we missing out so gravely! 6y
MommyOfTwo @Linear I know I thought that was pretty funny that only 4 people read it. That was part of a series I read to my kids. 6y

I don't know if any #Littens subscribe to #Quarterly but thought I'd share my email just in case. I don't actually get the boxes yet as I'm waiting to get a job and to get my #tbr pile down, but I will eventually!

Cinfhen Thanks for sharing! 7y
