pickA 5/5 book. One problem, I don‘t know how to read Spanish and so some parts needed googling or using context to figure out the idea. The ending is a sad one with the lovers finding love. And then a drastic cliffhanger. The ending is open for imagination weather they are reunited or forgotten. Interesting characters and a page thriller the struggles that you must know if they survive. Tragic loss and huge discoveries make this a great book.
Fiction - 21/05/17 One of the main questions I have is what do the guardians look like? In my story the guardians play a big part in the religion and beliefs of the characters. All characters when travling across the dessart face soils and the guardians, What is the guardians true purpose? It seems the guardians are guides. But they also protect and lead you to the truth. I would like to know more back ground information about the guardians.
21/04/22 One real world to text connection I made was the fact that people all around the world have problems. In some books it says some people don't have problems but in the book im currently reading the characters go through a lot of real life struggles. Things like identity, family, and some more unrealistic ones like a man an his gang showing up to murder and you fall in love with his daughter. But people all around have different struggles.
pickThis was a bit of a slow crawl. But incredibly well written, with good nomadic world building, and excellent characters development.
I just wish it had been a bit shorter in length.
It's all about the oranges and blues for this week's reading.
I took Monday off so today is my first day of this week.

pickTotally not planned for #SuperSeptember but it happened. Really enjoyed this story about Xo who is the Cuentista at her aldea, aka basically means her future is planned out for her based on tradition. I really enjoyed Xo's journey of being a devoted Solista to questioning, and from living at an aldea to journeying the world, seeing how different things are elsewhere and what that means about her beliefs and self #sapphic #latinx #magicalrealism

pickIn a post apocalyptic world, Xochitl is la cuentista, a kind of sin eater through the stories her community tells her. A traumatic event causes her to run and try to learn how to find value in herself beyond what she does for her village and find the truth of her abilities.
This was beautiful and lyrical and left me breathless. A book about the importance of the stories we tell each other and ourselves, and the choices that we make. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
so-soThis book has beautiful prose, seamlessly slipping between English and Spanish, and strong themes of storytelling, pain, loss, hope, family, and obligations. This book is filled with adventure - a literal and figurative journey - and examines what stories mean, and what it means to hold them or let them go.
Waiting in the parked car for my dentist appointment. I hate going to the dentist. At least I remembered my tablet this time.
