I did the exact same thing. For most of the year that I was 36 I thought I was 37. I only realized that I was wrong just a few weeks before my actual 37th birthday when I commented to my grandma about turning 38 and she called me on my mistake and told me to recalculate based on my birthday. 🤫🤭🤣

The drain quote just reminds me of my bathroom's drain and my boyfriend's at his house too. They're both terrible. 😬🤪

I have been a huge fan of Jen Lancaster's writing ever since reading Bitter is the new black. I spent the entire time nodding along in agreement with Jen and laughing out loud at her stories. Her humour and story telling is just so relatable and fun I didn't want this book to end! I then listened to the Audiobook which Jen herself reads and Fletch's last words at the end of each chapter were so entertaining. I would rate this 10 out of 5 stars!😍

Classic Lancaster is back! I‘ve loved Jen Lancaster since Bitter but her YA fiction that she‘s been focused on lately isn‘t my jam. So I was excited that she went back to her roots with a memoir about regular ol‘ life. It was just the palette cleanser I needed 😊

With this done, I‘m at about 12.5 hours of my #24b4Monday

Jen Lancaster is always funny as hell, however I read through this one much faster than ‘Bitter is the New Black‘. Really fun read!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Husband had a work function which means I get the best kind of solo date. I looooved Jen's early memoirs, hopefully this self published memoir stacks up to her old stuff.

"Editors said no one wanted my brand of humor anymore .... They wanted capital-I Issues."

Hats off to Jen for self-publishing this essay collection. I think that's pretty badass! And I like to laugh. I don't need everything to be heavy, or to be the next feminist manifesto. There's nothing wrong with keeping it light.

My only complaint is that it could've really used some more editing. But for a $6.99 ebook, I'm satisfied. I still love her!

Ashley_Nicoletto I love her too! I bought this week, but I think I paid $8.04 for it. Which is more than I've paid for an ebook in years. 😂 7y
britt_brooke @Ashley_Nicoletto Ha! Yeah, good point. I usually snag daily deals and never pay full price. This is still a good deal for a new release, though (those have gotten pricy). 😁😉 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @britt_brooke No kidding! That's mostly why I quit buying them. $15 for the kindle version. 🙄 I was pleasantly surprised to find this at $8. 7y

britt_brooke @Ashley_Nicoletto It's insane! I'm so glad I finally starting using Overdrive. I'll just wait for new releases on there. 😬 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @britt_brooke Agreed! The library for the city I live in is slacking in the purchasing department. BUT I've discovered that the library in the city I've worked is on top of things. I've personally thanked their buyer. He basically laughed at me like I was a little bit of a psycho but 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y
AlaMich Increasingly I find that the ebook price is virtually the same as the print version. I don't understand why they would do that. I think it just drives people to the library/Overdrive, and they lose a sale. 7y
britt_brooke @AlaMich I think sometimes they're just banking on the instant gratification. 7y

Jen on Whole30. 😆 I guess I'm twelve, too.

Erinreadsthebooks Omg! I love her!!! I didn't even know she had a new book out. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto 😂😂😂 this made me giggle. 7y
britt_brooke @Erinstutts Yes!!! It came out last month. Publishers and editors wanted her to write the next feminist manifesto, but that's not what she wanted to do ... so she self-published this book of essays. The ebook is just 6.99! 7y

Today is big brother's first full day of kindergarten, so little brother and I are keeping busy. Current situation: Chick-fil-A playground.

Lmstraubie Have a good day mama! He'll be home before you know it. ☺️ 7y
TEArificbooks I am with you, my youngest started kindergarten and drop off was horrible. I am trying to pack for the move or read and distract myself from worrying about him. 7y
britt_brooke @Lmstraubie Thank you! 😊 7y

britt_brooke @mdm139 It's so hard setting them free. I've kept really busy today so that's helped. Hope your little one had a good day - and you too! ☺️ I think it's harder on us than them. 7y
Cinfhen How'd it go??? #FirstDayJitters I'm sure the little guy missed his big brother 💙 7y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen It went really well - thank you! Little brother was sad but we had a good day while bubba was at school. 😍😍 7y
Cinfhen Yay 😊 7y
Suet624 Oh, the first day of kindergarten. So long ago for me and my kids, but still so fresh in my mind. 7y

Reading Jen Lancaster's new book is like hanging out with an old friend. She's so ridiculous and funny. I just love her! This Schlafly Raspberry Hefe is 👌🏻👌🏻. #cheers #booksandbrews

Meg11726 Please tell me that drink isn't enjoyable.. atleast for a couple more weeks. I've been craving a cold adult beverage today!!! 7y
AmyG That is a lovely beer. I am a big fan of wheat beers....especially with a touch if fruit. 7y
britt_brooke @Meg11726 It's terrible. Not refreshing at all. 😉 After we had our youngest son, I had a 6pk of my favorite beer waiting in the fridge for when we got home. 😆 7y

ValerieAndBooks That beer's name makes me think of Phyllis Schlafly 😕. But it looks good! 7y
britt_brooke @ValerieAndBooks Not going to lie, I had to google her. 🤦🏼‍♀️ And this beer is very good. 😁 7y
MaureenMc @ValerieAndBooks It is the same family. 😊 7y
britt_brooke @MaureenMc I wondered this - thank you! 7y
ValerieAndBooks @britt_brooke @MaureenMc wow. Well, the last name is unusual enough that I'm not that surprised that it's the same family! 7y
MrBook I've had that! 7y
ErinGoBragh1011 I have never heard of this, vut it sounds yummy! Is it a sour? 7y
britt_brooke @ErinGoBragh1011 It's a hefe, but the raspberry does give it a little bit of a sour kick. It's good! 7y

Jen Lancaster rebelled against her publishers advice and self published her new memoir. It's like the old Jen we all know and love is back. This one is worth the read. If you liked her earlier work, you'll be happy with it. And I'd love to hang out in a bar with her.

Bostonmomx2 I've never read her before, what does she normally write? 7y
JacqMac @Bostonmomx2 She writes a lot of memoirs. Not "I was born in a small town" kind of memoirs. More like "this crazy thing happened to me at dinner" memoirs. She's funny and very relatable. 7y
