#12Booksof2024 I‘m a few days late starting this challenge, but here‘s my picks for the first months of this year. January - Revenge by Tom Bower( Meghan is awful)plus it was the only book I read in January!
February - House of Flame & Shadow by Sarah.J.Maas March - Aurora Rising by Alistair Reynolds, one of the best scifi series I‘ve read.

Bk2 of March is the 1st in the Prefect Dreyfus Emergency series. A brilliant blend of SciFi & police procedural, Dreyfus is a Prefect of Panoply, the beat cops of The Glitter Band. Made up of 10,000 different habitats orbiting the planet Yellowstone, Prefects enforce the voting laws of the system. Until an entire habitat is killed, an open & shut case,but Dreyfus starts looking deeper & encounters things powerful people would rather stay hidden.👇

Bks6, 7, & 8 of my recent #BookMail are the first 3 books in the Prefect Dreyfus series. A SciFi Cop drama, set in the utopia of the Glitter Band of Space Habitats orbiting the planet Yellowstone.Panoply enforces the law, but when Dreyfus investigates an attack against a habitat it looks open&shut, until he looks under some stones that very powerful people rather he didn‘t.10,000 city-state habitats orbit Yellowstone & Panoply ARE the law.

Continuation of larger series, so not the real beginning of the story. As usual, imaginative, complex, well drawn characters, and lots of action.

Reynolds changed the title after publication, so it is sometimes listed as “Aurora Rising.” This is a fabulous science fiction / police procedural novel. Reynolds drops you right into the action with few info drops. The world building is complex, and you figure it out as you go. The characters are well-drawn and engaging. It took me a while to catch on, but once I was in, I loved it. I will be reading more from this author.

The trouble with ebooks is when you want to read an epub your partner bought you can not just pick up the paper book and read, you have to borrow the reading device... And that one is older and way slower and clunkier than mine ;)

The Prefect ain't flashy with it's bare bones prose, but I was completely hooked. It's half sci-fi thriller, half police procedural with ever increasing stakes and a deftly woven plot. An unexpected favourite of 2019 so far! Also, the first book for #BookFitnessChallenge #BFC

I'm excited! Today is the first day of the #BookFitnessChallenge #BFC Round 2. These are my goals for the next six weeks... wish me luck! I'm off to the beach today so I should be able to get in a walk and some quality time with the tagged book.

Space opera detective story by an imaginative author. There's a lot going on and a lot of characters and detailed writing. Definitely not a quick read but Alastair Reynolds deals well with complex themes in a creative way.

Reading + coffee = perfect morning

Time for some out of this world lunch break reading.
