The Crucible retelling I didn‘t know I‘d like! What a coincidence that this story uses Miller‘s iconic play as a base & I‘m currently teaching it 😁 Some teen cringe moments exists to induce eye-rolls but the basic concept is awesome and the way it could play out has some seriously cool implications - crucibles are women who transmutate heat into energy in this world & witches are on a crusade against science. Spiritwalking & multiverse too 📚📚📚

Book 1 was a great intro into the trilogy.

I got into reading as soon as I could read. My dad was in the military and we moved around a lot. I was always the new kid, we were always traveling and I was an only child. Books were my one constant, something that passed the time and something I could do by myself. Back then I was obsessed with Archie comics and The Babysitters Club.

What got me into reading was my mother and grandmother who always encouraged books in the home. They always were willing to take a library trip or sit down and help me read a big book. It really gave me the confidence to love reading from a young age!

I first got into reading when I was in first grade or so. Growing up my mom would read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books to my brother and I. This started my love affair with books, always reading before bed making me have “two bedtimes”. I had to be in bed by 8, but lights out at 9 lol

I got into reading at an early age, about 4 and a half. My Dad said I was reading Dr. Suess books to my kindergarten class (at that time they didn't really focus on reading until about 1st grade). I have always loved books!

Pretty typical YA fantasy book, you have your super sexy brooding male protagonist with the I‘m-not-sexy but is totally sexy female protagonist who wind up falling for each other. Her best friend who she loves of course is a turd bag. Magic that she doesn‘t know how to control but of course winds up doing so perfectly. It was good enough for me to try the second one but not overall great.

"I don't want her broken like me. I want her wounded, yes, but stronger for it. There comes a day when every girl loses the stars in her eyes. And then she can see clearly."

Just started this and I love the parallel worlds theme! I like the correlations and subtle opposites that are woven into it. It's pretty quick paced and I can tell it'll be a fun read✊?

This was my library haul on Wednesday. They changed my work schedule so I have 30 min window to get to the library. I arrived with only 15 mins until closing. I know these librarians were not happy to see me. I promised them I would be only 5 mins. I practically ran to the YA section. I probably looked crazy running and I panicked lol. I got all the way home and I realized I have already read Trial by Fire. That's why you always get more than one.

Ein absolutes must have.

It's now 1.58am and I've just closed this book. Wow! Not only are the covers for this saga absolutely stunning, the story that lies inside is amazing. I was able to devour this book in one sitting.

Thrilling storyline, avid detail, addictive characters, definitely an adventure not to be missed.

I highly recommend. Now I'm gonna get some shut eye so I'm fresh to dive into book two. :-)

This is my 3rd read of this book. I'm rereading in anticipation of the upcoming series finale release. #sequelseptember

While this series is just an ok one for me when I think about it: I truly feel like I'll pass out if I can't read the finale ASAP!

Pros: the parallel worlds + historical parts are truly compelling. Cons: the mythology is not the best part-it's a little confusing actually.

Audio is read by Emma Galvin, a favorite of mine👍🏻

A must read if you like suspenseful witchy magic with intense characters and world-building so great that you wish you could visit! There is a slight love interest, but not in the conventional, angsty and predictable way it usually plays out. Really, truly one of the best I've read in a while.

As I hurtle towards the end of this book, I had to have something to crunch on to relieve the tension. SO, SO, SO very many other things I should be doing right now! #notsorry #pitachipstotherescue

"In her world, she'd been loved - by her sister, her mother, and even her Tristan - but Lily had never been necessary." It's out of context here, but this on p. 277 is a mind-blowing description of the difference between familial love & relationship love. If that makes no sense, read this book!

Don't you just hate when you have more miles left than book!?! If I had known I was going to love this book so much, I'd have grabbed the next in the series as well. Sigh

What a phrase! "She shouldn't want to wear Rowan like a pair of pants, or swallow him like a mouthful of chocolate. It just wasn't right." Really loving this mash-up of YA sci-fi, dystopian, fairy tale, action, etc.! (Please excuse my ineloquence. I've only had a couple sips of coffee so far.)

Loved her Starcrossed series so I'm giving this a try. Liking it so far; reminds me of that tv series Sliders from years and years ago. I love the concept of parallel universes and who we might be in each!

I finished this in audiobook format and was very pleased with this one! A world where witches rule, alternate dimensions, science and a love story.... Yes please 😍!! I'm on hold for the second book and can't wait to see where Lily/Liliane takes this adventure!

Listening to the audiobook! I'm loving the narrator's voice and the witches, the Magic, the "science"... Rowan ;)

Read about 100 pages but it just didn't grab me. The parallel world+magic and Salem Witch aspects intrigued me at first but it wasn't enough to keep me going, sadly. I'll probably finish it one day, but this just isn't in the foreseeable future.
