I really enjoyed the Elephant whisperer. Would also pick Emma by Jane Austen as it's one of the first classics I read as a teenager. Always a Pemberlitten 😍

This herd of elephants stole my heart! Lawrence Anthony operates a wild animal reserve in South Africa and agrees to take a herd of 9 unruly elephants, otherwise they will be killed. Anthony shares how he developed amazing, close relationships with the herd and the heartbreaks he experienced. While the elephants are the primary focus of the book, Anthony writes about his wife, dogs, rangers, native tribal people, and other fascinating wildlife. 🐘
A friend of mine posted this on Facebook recently saying it was a great read. I ❤️ 🐘, so of course it got added to the ridiculously large TBR pile. I hinted said friend should join Litsy. No response 😳 #whisper #jammimjune @Eggs
Such an incredible story. Parts of it broke my heart, but I have a soft spot for anything with animals. The connection he has with the rescued elephant herd is a powerful thing. He never forgets they are powerful animals, even when they grow close. He treated them with respect and his bond with them was strong. There were some powerful scenes, like seeing the crippled baby elephant with its mother and watching him deal with a rogue elephant.
I chose this #NonFiction book about the Thula Thula game reserve in #SouthAfrica for this month‘s #ReadAroundTheWorldChallenge. While the introduction and rehabilitation of a group of elephants is the focus here- all kinds of other wildlife is included as well as some of the social and political pressures involved with the reserve. This is fascinating- but I definitely didn‘t plan on sobbing through the end on my #AudioColoring!
Is it the sound of #thunder or a herd of wild elephants chasing you? In this book, it‘s probably the latter. 😂
Just finished this one up today and I really enjoyed it! You can see my full review here: https://www.facebook.com/262384764521804/posts/282677145825899?s=1282951466&sfns...

The Elephant Whisperer by Anthony Lawrence
I don't read non-fiction very often but I loved this book! I picked it up purely because elephant on the cover (I admit it is a slightly strange obsession!)
I found it hard to read in parts because the way it was written meant that I became so attached to all of the characters, especially the elephants. I would recommend it to anyone, even if you are not a non-fiction fan!

The Elephant Whisperer by Anthony Lawrence
There‘s going to be a sequel to one of my favorite books!! It‘s written by his wife and will hopefully be released in the US by the end of the year!! If you haven‘t read The Elephant Whisperer yet, I highly recommend it!! ❤️🐘❤️🐘❤️🐘
This book simultaneously made me want to hug an elephant, work at a conservation, and punch some poachers. It's wonderfully touching and heartbreaking. Mainly about Lawrence's time with the elephants, there is also South African culture throughout which I found interesting. But the elephants do steal the show. They've always been my favorite animal and reading this only strengthened my love for them. Highly recommend.

I LOVED this book! Touching, sweet, heart wrenching, interesting, and suspenseful.. such a surprisingly great read, especially if you're an animal lover and care about conservation. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐘🐘🐘
I fell head first into this audiobook two days ago and just resurfaced. It completely transported me to the South African Bush. I started to fall for elephants while reading Jodi Picoult's Leaving Time a couple of years ago, and this book completely cemented the attachment. They're magnificent creatures. It also made me want to run into the trees and never leave. Thanks @wordsworthsprite for the recommendation!!
Easily one of my favorite audiobooks of all time. I love wildlife stories and this nonfiction narrative of Lawrence's work on the Thula Thula reserve delivers richly. SO MUCH ELEPHANT GOODNESS ❤️
