YA nonfiction about the history & current events of abortion & reproductive justice activism worldwide, but mainly in the US & Canada. The author started writing this early in the Trump presidency as it began to look like the future of abortion rights in America was more tenuous than ever. Since it‘s geared towards teens it focuses more heavily on teen pregnancy than statistics merit, but otherwise a great resource. #BBRCTeenAngstItMakesMeAngry

Got up at 4:30 am yesterday so I could drive an hour, volunteer for a two-hour shift at Planned Parenthood escorting patients past screaming protesters, drive an hour home — and then go to work at my full-time job. Because nearly 50 years after Roe v. Wade gave women our legal right to choose what we do with our own bodies, we STILL have to deal with strangers who think they get to make our medical decisions for us.

Oryx Well done you. Thank you. 4y
Amiable @TrishB Not me — the people here in the U.S. who are standing in lines at the polls for 5 hours to cast their votes are the real heroes! 4y

Amiable @Oryx It quite honestly feels like the least I can do! The situation in this country is so frustrating and horrifying right now. 4y

Hoping to participate in #litsypartyofone later today, but first I need to finish my shift as a volunteer patient escort helping to ensure women (and men) have access to reproductive health care. Thinking of you all on this cold day!

Tex2Flo I had to walk through protesters for my visit years ago. Thanks for your work and help. 5y
Amiable @Tex2Flo I did too, in the late 1980s/early 1990s. I can‘t really believe we‘re still dealing with this crap after all these years. 5y
Gaylagal2 @amiable No you rock sister! 😘 I can remember going to PP with my Mom as a young woman and it was completely safe and ok, just like going to the doctor for your female check up. Not now and that just pisses me off and it shouldn't be like that🤙My body my choice...period! 5y

For full reproductive justice to be achieved, all people, including the most marginalized, need to be able to access not just abortion services but also sex education, birth control, health care, protection from violence, support for raising children and safe housing in which to raise them.

A very timely book about the history of abortion and abortion rights and the efforts to limit women‘s reproductive rights.
