Face It
Face It: De autobiografie van Blondie | Deborah Harry
14 posts | 10 read | 8 to read

In 2019, I had tickets for Debbie Harry‘s author talk in Philadelphia. So excited, until she canceled. The book is sitting on my TBR shelves.

fredamans I loved this book. Stop leaving it sitting on your shelf and read it. You learn a few cool things about her, one specifically jaw dropping thing... so READ it. 9mo

I fell in love with Blondie when I was 9yrs old roller skating with my brand new Sony Walkman on around Hong Kong. Such fantastic memories. I wanted to be her so bad! (Still do!🤣) The music is still as great as ever.
I was a little disappointed in this memoir, I feel like it lacked real emotion.

CarolynM That is disappointing. I'm planning to get the paperback when it appears. I won't have such high expectations for it now😬 4y
Rissreads @CarolynM yeah I was tossing up between a pick and So so. You might love it. Most of it felt a bit matter of fact and clinical to me. So many things were just brushed over and not really explored. Yes it lacked feeling. 4y

Bk5 of #24B4Monday #24B42020 #readathon & Bk15 of #WinterGames for #TeamNutcracker is done! Debbie Harry has always been a trailblazer, a woman in a male dominated profession, she outshone them all on NYCs punk scene. Overcoming a drug addiction she then paved a new career in acting before a triumphant return to the stage. Fierce, fabulous & phenomenal, this memoir tells her story wonderfully. 16pts #PointsTotal-2,527

Andrew65 Great 👏👏👏😊 4y

Some of the art in this memoir is gorgeous, some are done by Miss Debbie & others by friends or fans. Almost finished this Bk5 of #24B4Monday #24B42020 #readathon & Bk15 of #WinterGames for #TeamNutcracker she‘s certainly lived an eventful life, but who wants to be boring? 1pt #PointsTotal-2,511

Andrew65 She has certainly never lived a boring life! 4y

Checking in for #24B4Monday #24B420 #readathon & #WinterGames for #TeamNutcracker I‘ve been a Blondie fan since the 70s when I first heard them on the radio. Debbie Harry is a fascinating woman, she certainly held her own against the men who were the majority in her genre, and outshone every single one of them. Starting as a punk band in venues like CBGBs in NYC, she growled, crawled & sweat her way to the top. 1pt #PointsTotal-2,470

Andrew65 I remember the days, and voice, well! Great time. 👏👏👏 4y

Bk3 of my #libraryhaul is another #NFNov pick. I‘ve loved Blondie since the 70s, when Heart Of Glass was a new release! Debbie Harry is a legend, talented & outspoken she was a role model for independent free thinking women long before it was fashionable. I can‘t wait to read her memoir which is also full of photos & original artwork by Ms Harry herself. What‘s your favourite Blondie song?

Jerdencon Just saw her in concert this summer! She was amazing! (edited) 4y
Jerdencon Heart of Glass has always been my favorite! 4y
TrishB It‘s a great read👍🏻 some of the Art work is by fans too, she‘s kept loads over the years. 4y

Loved it ❤️ written as if Debbie was sat in front of you talking.
Interesting and honest, she seems to tell the truth even though she knows some things won‘t exactly make her look good.

Cinfhen This sounds like a good audio pick!!! 4y
TrishB @Cinfhen I imagine it would be great read by Debbie 👍🏻 4y
Cathythoughts That was quick! Nice review... I heard a review praising it on the radio recently too. Although , the reviewer was annoyed at not getting more personal feeling info ... I was admiring Debbie for not feeling she had to reveal all ( havnt read , do not sure if that makes sense) 4y

gradcat I really want to read this book, @TrishB . . . I read a review and was immediately interested, plus, with your stamp of approval, I know it‘ll be good. ♥️ 4y
TrishB @Cathythoughts have sat on couch all day and just read it, so engrossing! Makes perfect sense- she says she had kept stuff private and she doesn‘t go into a lot of detail about her family, which I respect totally. 4y
TrishB @gradcat I think you‘ll like it 👍🏻 4y

Released 1 October 😁😁❤️💜 I CAN‘T WAIT to read her own story.
In my early teens, I used to think if if I looked like Debbie I could marry Gary Numan 😁 then in Numan‘s autobiography he admitted she gave him a big ‘no thanks!‘. Love her.

Cathythoughts Love her too. Her music ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ 5y
