The Blacksmith Queen
The Blacksmith Queen | G.A. Aiken
20 posts | 13 read | 23 to read
When a prophesy brings war to the Land of the Black Hills, Keeley Smythe must join forces with a clan of mountain warriors who are really centaurs in a thrilling new fantasy romance series from New York Times bestselling author G.A. Aiken. The Old King Is Dead With the demise of the Old King, theres a prophesy that a queen will ascend to the throne of the Black Hills. Bad news for the kings sons, who are prepared to defend their birthright against all comers. But for blacksmith Keeley Smythe, war is great for business. Until it looks like the chosen queen will be Beatrix, her younger sister. Now its all Keeley can do to protect her family from the enraged royals. Luckily, Keeley doesnt have to fight alone. Because thundering to her aid comes a clan of kilt-wearing mountain warriors called the Amichai. Not the most socially adept group, but soldiers have never bothered Keeley, and rough, gruff Caid, actually seems to respect her. A good thing because the fierce warrior will be by her side for a much longer ride than any prophesy ever envisioned Praise for The Dragon Who Loved Me A chest thumping, mead-hall rocking, enemy slaying brawl of a good book. All Things Urban Fantasy Aiken aces another one. RT Book Reviews, 4 Stars

I was intrigued by the blurb when browsing through the Fantasy shelf in Barnes and Noble. When I found the title was on KU I was excited. Unfortunately, this book was silly in my opinion. The cast of characters who banded together didn't make sense. The love story between Keely and Caid, again, didn't make sense. I didn't care that one sister aligned herself on the wrong side. I pushed my way through, but by the end it didn't matter.

A great read. I wasn‘t sure if it was going to like it but it was intriguing, fast paced, interesting, and funny. I was surprised by how quickly I finished it. I can‘t wait the read the next book. This one takes sibling rivalry to a extreme!

This is brilliant 😊🌻☕️📚📖
Absolutely loved this book. The characters are fantastic and make the storyline really pop. I think what really got me hooked was the character interactions. I love the sense of humour and the blunt way they speak. I know there is a lot of swearing but it just adds to the books charm! Can't wait for the next instalment.

This book is fun, irreverent, and hilarious. I loved the heroine, she was joyous and passionate about her chosen life. One quibble, I would have liked to know more about the hero. He was nice, but just sort of there. Maybe that‘s what the author intended. Still, I‘d have liked to known more of his thoughts.

Okay, this is late, but, not as late as last month! I think I should just admit that #LateIsMyBrand and move on! 7 of my 15 reads this month counted for #BookishBingo And my #BestofSeptember, after much debate, is The Blacksmith Queen! G.A. Aiken will forever be in possession of my funny bone! Combine that with the sweeping adventure she wove her humor through and you‘ve got an amazing start to a new series!

Everything I want in a GA Aiken book- hilarious and gruesome. Definitely more fantasy saga than romance, but a great start to the series.

This book was entertaining, start to finish! Lots of delightfully ridiculous drama and action, kept fresh and fun with Aiken‘s irreverent brand of humor. I‘m so excited to see where we go from here! This was a great start to a new series in a favorite world!

This is my favorite book of the year so far. The beginning of a new epic adventure fantasy romance series. It is set in the same world as Aiken‘s dragon series, but it is not necessary to have read them. The story follows a farming/blacksmithing peasant family and their madcap journey falling into leadership and villainy. It is exciting and funny and pure fun. I highly recommend! #recommendsday #romantsy

I grabbed this ARC at ALA because I've enjoyed Aiken's work. It's a great start to a new series that will appeal to fans of her dragon series (they are sort of connected) and to readers looking for a slow burn fantasy romance. #romantsy #paranormal #fantasy
