I‘ve been rereading my Paul Auster reviews and the tagged one is the one I enjoyed the least of his books. All others were four stars or more for me. I still have 4321 to read. So sad there won‘t be any new ones coming.

In 1960s' New York, young orphan M.S. Fogg is trying to cope with an existential crisis after his uncle and last known family member dies. Motivated back to life by his first love, he starts working for a disabled rich old man who introduces him to an unbelievable story spanning on three generations and hiding the key to uncovering the mysteries of his own existence. This author is such a great storyteller.

This is my favorite book read in December!

I love a good coming-of-age story, but this goes beyond. It also has a cool ending.

This was a rare cover-buy and it paid off!

34 books read in April. 11 from TBR lists, 5 were audio books.
Favourite Books: Clans of Tokito by Caroline Brinkmann, Second Sister by Chan Ho-kei and A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum. But I had a lot of great books this month. Once again, it's hard to choose.

Now on to May!

The first Paul Auster I read in English. Went better than expected 👍

The book needs some time until one gets the whole picture, but since we're talking about Paul Auster, nobody will be surprised by that. I loved how everything comes together. Also, the struggles Marco has to go through, helped me a lot with dealing with my own. So this book came at exactly the right moment.

So how do I review this odd but fascinating book? I neither liked nor respected the MC, but cared what happened to him. It was full of unbelievable coincidences, yet I willingly suspended disbelief. I don‘t remember when or why this was added to my Kindle library, but I‘m glad it was. @tournevis , you were right. It is so, so good.

Never thought I would see Bluff, UT in a book. It‘s about as close to the middle of nowhere as you can get!

I love that the difficult old man is named “Effing!” 😀

I‘m not sure where this book is taking me, but I think I‘m going to enjoy the ride. #currentlyreading

Not as good as « In the country of last things » but still superior quality. Always well written (from a non-anglophone point of view).

Haven't read any Auster since the New York trilogy, but I couldn't pass up this prestine Penguin edition from Mr. K's. It and a few other titles have nearly cleared out my credit.

One of my all-time favorite reads.

A story in three parts of which I liked the first best. The second did bore me a bit, although I am still a fan of Auster's style. #1001books

The art of hunger. The vastness of this book captures the vastness of the USA in my imagination (I have never been).

Thank goodness for #audiobooks! I've been under the weather for a couple of days so I'm trying to clear some of my unfinished books while it's still 2016 by listening as I sniffle. I wasn't loving this book in print format, but the audio didn't help. The first part of the book was fine, but it just unraveled from there. Too much self indulgence for my taste, but some interesting writing & themes throughout.

My December #tbr has some carryovers from last month so in an attempt to be reasonable, I'm adding only the 2 books that I need to read for my December book groups. But then again, there are always those 60+ unread ebooks waiting for me on my kindle....
