Was planning to start a GOT reread but got distracted by Novice Dragoneer which I had picked up for my daughter. She‘s currently reading something else, so I‘m diving in!

Here is #2 on my list! This series actually just recently hit my radar and after reading the first book it shot to the top of my list! It's absolutely amazing! A competitive dragon riding academy, a gloriously strong underdog female protagonist, and some of the BEST human/dragon interactions I have ever read. If you love dragons, you HAVE to read this series!
pickThis book deserves ALL THE STARS! I am seriously mad at myself for not reading it earlier because it is certainly one of the best books I've read this year! Exciting storytelling, fantastic character development, a competitive academy setting, and did I mention dragons?! 🐉💕📚 I had a hard time putting this one down! I can't wait to read the sequel!
I've had this book for awhile but I'm finally starting it today! I've got dragons on the brain so it seemed like the perfect time to dive in! 🐉💕 The weather here is gorgeous today, so I took a long walk in the park with my book! 📚🌿

panThis book disappointed me. It was entertaining enough to keep reading, but after reading so many books lately where women are allowed to just be people, it was exhausting to get through one where the protag is the One Exceptional Cool Girl In The Whole World. I said I would have loved this as a kid, but having read it I don't think so. Also I honestly didn't find the characters that compelling.

Increasingly mixed feelings about this book for reasons too complicated to get into in this space, but I'm a little annoyed by the recurrence of this sort of thing. On a character's first appearance the author will describe them as having an unusual manner of speech, they'll demonstrate it in one sentence if at all, and it will never appear again. It's hard to convey this sort of thing without becoming annoying, sure, but this isn't even trying.
I'm almost 200 pages into this book and so far there have been two of these footnotes, which I am uncertain about--they're rare enough to feel out of place when they show up and because I'm the worst they raise questions for me about whether I'm supposed to read this book as an in-universe document or not. Overall a good read though, so far.
On a more positive note, I'm excited about this book! It's definitely something I would have been deeply obsessed with if it had existed when I was a kid, and though I'm less than a chapter in I'm really enjoying it so far.
