A Cat Called Norton
A Cat Called Norton: The True Story of an Extraordinary Cat and His Imperfect Human | Peter Gethers
10 posts | 8 read | 6 to read
Peter was a confirmed loner and cat hater, until he was given a small, grey (and impeccably handsome) kitten with folded ears by his then girlfriend. The girlfriend went but Norton stayed - in fact, he and Peter became inseparable. Trotting along beside him down the street, having his own chair in restaurants or sitting on Peter's lap on plane journeys, Norton made his presence felt and Peter was a loner no more. But, after learning how to love his cat, would Peter now learn how to love another human too?

This was the last #creaturecomfort book that I read. Norton, a Scottish Fold cat, is just adorable and his adventures are very funny!

@Emiller I‘m not able to have pets in my building so here‘s a picture of my favourite kitty friend, Cali. My friend‘s human read the tagged book and had to have a Scottish Fold. Hope this gives you a smile. Hugs 🤗

Kaye Now that is a powerful cat. Is he old or just tough ? 7y
Dragon Thanks @Kaye she‘s five and rather grumpy when she doesn‘t get her way or you try and take a photo. 😂 7y

Kaye I had a tough grey cat when I was a kid. I love grey cats, especially tough ones with muscles. 😁 7y
Dragon Me too @Kaye 😻 7y
Faibka Cute kitty, it‘s too bad they don‘t allow pets at your place :( 7y
Dragon Thanks @Faibka 😀👍🐉 7y

Love this little cat! What a charmer! Felt badly that he was separated from mom and siblings at only 6 weeks, though (that‘s really too soon from what I‘ve read). I‘m not sure the years/decades Norton lived, but the book was written in 1991, so maybe less attention was paid to that back then? There were cute little cat illustrations at the start of each chapter, as well.

I recently saw the documentary KEDI, about the cats of Istanbul. And it made me think of one of my favorite cat stories, the one about Norton, a Scottish Fold and his unlikely human companion. I read these books back in high school and they are SO fun. Norton and his human travel the world together and I have fond memories of reading these books with my mom. Definitely recommend for ALL animal lovers!

Healthy snacks for #LitsyPartyofOne. Not-so-healthy snacks to be making an appearance later. 😂

Suzze I loved this series of books. The last one is the best ugly cry book ever. 8y
rubyslippersreads @Suzze I might not be able to handle that one. 😿 8y
Suzze @rubyslippersreads It was tough, because you had grown to love that cat so much! 8y

In addition to all the challenges I've joined, I also find myself in three IRL book clubs. So these three have to move to the top of this month's #TBR. #feistyfeb

CocoReads 3? I can barely keep up with my one--and its really laid back. 8y
rubyslippersreads Mine are pretty laid back too, as you can probably tell from the book choices. One is for adults who love YA, which is fun. 8y
Lmstraubie I'm looking forward to reading The Bookshop on the Corner too! 8y
