Just lost me..
I think I need to kick my butt in to gear with reading because my overflow for my shelves is overflowing 😂
Too many books, not enough room!

Waffle pizzas are messy at times, but extremely delicious.
I was don't disappointed by the continuation of Gauri and Vikram's story. Gauri is a phenomenal character. At times she drives me crazy and others I just want to weep for her. She is so complex and her journey is an incredible story.
I don‘t think Chokshi‘s writing could ever get old. This book tells the story of a magical competition where the winner gets a wish. It differs from the first book in the companion set in that it‘s told from 3 different perspectives, but I think that added to the story, especially when the third narrator joined. It is beautifully written, intriguing, fun, & adds a new layer to my growing knowledge of Indian myth.
I accidentally returned this to the library before I took a photo... I really enjoyed this book! I loved the sisterhood and love between the poisonous courtesans and how Gauri and Vikram‘s relationship developed.
Roshani's writing lends itself so well to fantasies and retellings. It's just so beautiful and whimsical. The writing, tone and style are quite reminiscent of A Star-touched Queen so even though it was a companion novel, it still kinda felt like a sequel. The ending was so sweet and reminded me so much of those endings to cheesy romcoms!
Finally getting to the companion to Star-touched Queen!
This is the companion novel to The Star Touched Queen which I had surprisingly enjoyed despite it being a YA fantasy. And this book is even better!
Memorable characters, top notch humor, a magical and whimsical world. The only thing I had an issue with was the ending, which dragged a bit too long for my liking. But other than that I enjoyed every freaking thing about this book.
4/5 🌟
“What was magic anyway, but the world beheld by someone who chose to see it differently?”
“What‘s her favorite color?” asked a council member.
“The color of my eyes,” said Vikram quickly.
“Yes,” said Gauri woodenly. “They are so very … brown.”
😂😂
“True war isn‘t philosophical.”
“All war is philosophical. That‘s why we call it war. Strip it of its paint and it‘s nothing more than murder.”
#Audiobooking while I made arroz con pollo tonight, and ahahahaha I love Roshani Chokshi‘s sense of humor — also, we have another “sidekick” with Lying Cat sensibilities! #Audiocooking #OwnVoices #PuertoRico
“What I saw in Vikram‘s gaze rooted me to the spot: understanding. Those secrets had coaxed a shadowed part of us to step into the light. Understanding felt like a hand reached for and found in the dark.” #audiobook #audiocommute #SubarusofLitsy 😋
“Death stood on the other side of the chamber doors. Today, I would not meet it in my usual armor of leather and chainmail, but in the armor of silk and cosmetics. One might think one armor was stronger than the other, but a red lip was its own scimitar, and a kohl-darkened eye could aim true as a steel-tipped arrow.” #FemmeAF 💋
Chokshi‘s writing is as beautiful as her book covers. This is the companion to The Star-Touched Queen. The focus is on Maya‘s sister, Gauri and the Fox Prince, Vikram. Gauri and Vikram are partners in a magical tournament where the victors each get one wish. I absolutely loved this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨I finally bought both of these books (that same book outlet sale I bought 14 books during lol) by #roshanichokshi ! I read #thestartouchedqueen before and I loved it, but I may need to re-read it before getting into #acrownofwishes ! If you‘ve read these what did you think? 😀😀✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I fell in love with Gauri‘s character in The STQ so I adored her story! In The STQ I didn‘t really know the characters well enough to care about them, but Gauri and Vikram captured my heart from the get go, as well as Asha! Her character was strong and curious and she made me laugh it loud. The language was just as flowery as the first book, but I felt Crown of Wishes to be more profound in its poetic observations.
Hosting Thanksgiving means I am ready for bed and it is only 6pm! Guests have left so I am settling in to finish my book and the pie.
Spent the day being a gymnast mom and cheering on my girl. Sitting in the stands for hours is draining, a special kind of hell. So now I cuddling up in my PJs in a "mom only" blanket fort.
You are never too old for a blanket fort.
I really enjoyed A Crown of Wishes and I loved The Star Touched Queen as well. They are just fantastically magical tales that draw you in and leave a smile on your face.
I just finished this book last night and loved it! Such a great sequel to the Star Touched Queen. It was a quick read, and if you like magic, story telling and a little bit of romance then this is a book you'll enjoy! 4/5 ⭐️
The writing is as beautiful as the cover. There was some Insta-love which I'm not the most keen about but this was so much fun to read and was what I wanted Caraval to be. I will definitely be reading everything Roshani Chokshi writes in the future!
First stop on vacation was a day in Portland, Maine and of course I stopped by a book store 😉. It's super cute, but I was good and only picked up one book. I enjoyed The Star Touched Queen enough but I'm really interested in this story that follows the main character's sister!
"A story had no owner ship. A story could break its bones, grow wings, soar out of reach and dive out of sight in the time it took just to draw breath. It meant we weren‘t walking a cut path. We carved it into existence with every step."

'In that moment, he looked like mischief and midnight,
like a temptation that always slipped away too fast and left you at once relieved and disappointed.'
A crown of wishes was one of my favourite reads of this year, and possibly ever. Roshani is an excellent storyteller 😊

OK, let me preface this by saying that I'm really not that much into the fantasy genre. So while this would not normally be on my TBR list, I'm glad it was and I did. 😊 Good characters, amazing imagery/world building and more profound passages/insights than you could shake a stick at! 😄 #romantsy #osrbc
I am enjoying this mostly for the banter between Gauri and Vikram.

I was sort of in a weird place with this one. I love the premise and the characters but I found myself spacing out a bit at times. Either way worth a try for someone interested!
"A new world awaited us outside the garden. A world with new dreams and worn hopes. A world waiting to be filled with stories that would spread pale roots over time until they became indistinguishable from history. Vikram held out his arm, and I took it.
Together, we walked into that new world." ?
"But I did know that somewhere our story was taking flight. Maybe it had already traveled, from mouth and ear to mind and memory. And perhaps that in itself was the great secret - not just for legacy, but also for life. You could carry a story inside you and hold it up to the light when you needed it the most. You could peer through it, like a frame, and see how it changed your view when you looked out onto the world."
"'I wonder if this what Kubera wanted...as an ending for us.'
'Not an ending...a beginning to our story.'"
"But I knew what I wanted.
I wanted a shadow curled around mine in the night. A hand that was never too far out of reach. I wanted someone who carried a secret light within them, so that I would never be in the dark."
"But why settle for a story, when I could start a legend?"
"I think sometimes the truest wish of all is not needing to make one," she said.
