How to Train Your Dragon meets Quidditch through the Ages in this debut fantasy, set in an alternate contemporary world, in which dragons and their riders compete in an international sports tournamentLana Torres has always preferred dragons to people. In a few weeks, sixteen countries will compete in the Blazewrath World Cup, a tournament where dragons and their riders fight for glory in a dangerous relay. Lana longs to represent her native Puerto Rico in their first ever World Cup appearance, and when Puerto Rico's Runner--the only player without a dragon steed--is kicked off the team, she's given the chance. But when she discovers that a former Blazewrath superstar has teamed up with the Sire--a legendary dragon who's cursed into human form--the safety of the Cup is jeopardized. The pair are burning down dragon sanctuaries around the world and refuse to stop unless the Cup gets cancelled. All Lana wanted was to represent her country. Now, to do that, she'll have to navigate an international conspiracy that's deadlier than her beloved sport.

This book is like if Harry Potter was more quidditch centered without all of the controversy and also had dragons. It really was one of those books that was so diverse it slaps you in the face in the best possible way. Also dragons are excellent. It always takes skill to invent a new sport, especially one that has magic. 5🌟

Not sure why this book is still so unknown - it was so fun! (Plus, it has a great cover.) Not only do we have well-developed dragon rider lore, but a whole sport designed around dragon riding! And there is magic unrelated to dragons as well.

Reading confession: I have a lot of trouble doing fantasy novels as audiobooks. I can listen to romance, sci-fi, and the driest non-fiction, but for some reason I cannot finish fantasy audiobooks.

I decided to check out my library's ebook copy of Blazewrath Games since I'm struggling with the audiobook, and most of my non-ARC DNFs over the last few years have been fantasy audiobooks. Anyone else have a genre/format issue like this or just me?

BookwormM I have to be very selective with audio as I am too easily distracted 3y

After a lot of deliberation (and accepting I cannot finish a 12 hour audiobook in the next 24 hours), I think I've got my February #bookspinbingo list ready to go.

Omg @rachelsbrittain So many good looking books on your list! I feel like a kid in a candy store

I‘ve read 3 on the list so far so they aren‘t pictured above.

I‘m so upset the Echo Wife doesn‘t come out until Feb 😂

Do I need to have read the other murderbot books to read the 5th? I‘ve only read the first 2.

I can‘t wait to try and read all of these! I‘ll look to see what my library has tomorrow!

#NewYearWhoDis

rachelsbrittain Ahh I'm so glad you're excited about them!! (Also sorry I somehow missed this two days ago lol 🙈) I can't believe i didn't realize The Echo Wife releases in Feb but you should definitely read it when you get a chance! And I wouldn't rush on Network Effect. Go ahead and read the third and fourth book whenever you get a chance and it'll still be waiting for you 😊 3y
rachelsbrittain Also I just placed a hold on Anxious People at my library since @monalyisha mentioned you wanted to add that to you list but apparently it may not be available for *six months* so I may have to save that one for later in the year too 😂 3y
Laughterhp @rachelsbrittain Yeah, that‘s how long the hold for Take a Hint Dani Brown is, so I‘m going to try and get a hard copy from the library. And I put The Echo Wife on hold already so we‘ll see when/if I get it in February. 3y

monalyisha Take a Hint, Dani Brown was on the list I made, too. It *might* be my favorite romance ever. Maybe. 3y
rachelsbrittain @Laughterhp @monalyisha Take a Hint, Dani Brown is so so good! I just read a cute little holiday novella from Talia Hibbert last week, too. She writes such a good romance. Fingers crossed the library will come through for you on both counts 😅 3y
Laughterhp @rachelsbrittain I‘ve only read A Girl Like Her. I haven‘t read any Brown Sisters yet but had Get a Life on my TBR. 3y
rachelsbrittain I'm a bit ashamed to admit that even with as much as I loved Dani, I still need to read Chloe and Eve 😅 My dang TBR is just too long lol! 3y

An international sport of dragon riding and a girl thrust into the middle of a huge conspiracy. I love fantasy that explores the intersection of tech and magic, and this book did such a phenomenal job of it. Lana Torres becomes the newest member of Team Puerto Rico after her quick thinking saves a dragon during a terrorist attack on a wand shop. But there's more to the game than it seems. YA fantasy at its best!

LibrarianRyan I just bought this and am looking forward to it. 3y

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

This was such a fun fantasy. It's the world cup with dragons and team Puerto Rico represents for the first time in this competition in the story. But there's a greater mystery afoot and lana torres must choose to fight for something more important than the games, the cup she's dreamed of winning her whole life. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

AkashaVampie @ElizaMarie thought u might like this book. 4y
