Right now, I feel like I only want to read books that don‘t require a lot of brain power so all of my nonfiction books from Netgalley will not be read until I‘m in a better headspace so basically, I just want to mood read.

I‘ve gotten a lot of points this week just from doing the #wordsearch for #hauntedshelf, counting the 1 hour of reading for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong and counting the spooky or autumn reads. It‘s a lot to track and keep up with and I‘m also reading Netgalley ARCs. During #scarathlon last year, using the Autofill feature saved me a lot of time when I was filling in my spreadsheet all month so I‘m definitely using Autofill again.

For #weeklyfavorites, I‘m going to share this week‘s short story “The Adventure Of The Crooked Man” by Arthur Conan Doyle for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I‘m reading Never Lie by Freida McFadden right now but I‘m not going to get finished with it before the end of the month so I‘ll finish it next month. I had a lot going on over the weekend so I didn‘t have time to read anything and I‘m too tired tonight.

I just finished reading this week‘s short story called “The Adventure Of The Crooked Man” for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I liked it. I didn‘t get to participate in today‘s discussion because I went out to lunch today with my mom, my brother, my sister in law, my mom‘s boyfriend and his youngest daughter to celebrate our July birthdays. Then my mom and I went back home and I decided to take a nap for the rest of the afternoon. I‘m tired.

It makes me sad that I couldn‘t participate in the discussion last week because Hurricane Beryl hit us here in Southeast TX. It knocked out my power and my internet. For #weeklyfavorites, my favorite book this week is Silver Blaze which is this week‘s short story for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I started another book called Beneath A Scarlet Sky but I‘ll finish it in June. It‘s a WWII book set in Italy and it‘s based on a true story. I am enjoying it but it‘s intense and it‘s long.

I finished this week‘s short story “Silver Blaze” for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I‘m ready for our discussion. I listened while playing Cookie Jam on my phone. I finally got my game progress to sync between my phone and my tablet. All I had to do was update my software on my phone and tablet. I‘ve been playing for years. I‘m on level 1229. I refuse to go back to the beginning especially when it took me years of playing to get this far.

Here‘s what I have on my May TBR. I have the 3 Sherlock Holmes stories I‘ll be reading for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I have 2 #bookspin books. The only #bookspin book that‘s not on here is a mood read and I don‘t know what to choose for that. I don‘t have any #readyourkindle books on my list. I‘m waiting for the numbers to be drawn for that. I‘m continuing with my acronym/color coding system. That‘s been working out well for me.

I‘m currently participating in the #noplacelikeholmes readalong hosted by @dabbe and @Cuilin . They‘re doing such a good job hosting this. Everyone is welcome. If you‘re interested, feel free to join in and participate in the discussions at any time. I‘ve been enjoying reading these stories in between reading other books. I think it would be too much if I tried to read all of the stories at once so I‘m taking my time.

I did the word puzzles this week for the short story that I read for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I used my new stylus pen to write. I‘m not used to writing with it yet but I liked writing with it. I have a hand tremor. I‘ve had it my whole life and it makes handwriting difficult. It makes my handwriting kind of sloppy. Maybe using my stylus pen will help with my hand tremor. It seems like my hand tremor stops when I rest my hand on my leg.

I finished this week‘s short story for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. The one I just read was called “The Adventure Of The Speckled Band.”

I just finished listening to this week‘s short story “The Man With The Twisted Lip” for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I‘m ready for our discussion. I‘ve been liking these short stories. The short stories don‘t take that long to read. I can read other books for a while and then come back to reading these stories.

I finished listening to the short story The Five Orange Pips for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I didn‘t get to participate in the discussion of the story because I was busy over the weekend. I went to an IDD Awareness Day event on Saturday with my mom, brother and sister in law and then on Sunday, I spent the day downtown with my brother and sister in law sightseeing and then we ate dinner with my stepmom for her birthday.

I just finished reading the next short story in this short story collection from Sherlock Holmes. The one I just finished reading is called “The Boscombe Valley Mystery.” I worked more on a picture I‘m coloring while I listened to the story. These stories are short so they‘re perfect to listen to while I‘m coloring.

I started and finished listening to the next short story “A Case Of Identity” that we‘re discussing this weekend for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. Now, I‘m ready to discuss it.

I saw this candle from Frostbeard Studio. I bought 2 candles from them recently but I might have to buy this one too. Their candles are single wick candles. I like single wick candles. If you like candles like I do then you should check out this bookish candle company called Frostbeard Studio. I plan to continue buying candles from them.

For this weekend‘s short story “The Red Headed League”, I just completed the word search. For some of these things, I used Google to find the answers but this was fun to do. I liked changing out the highlighter colors for the words. Using the different colors on a word search looks really pretty. I did it digitally and it only took me a few minutes to do.

I started and finished listening to The Red Headed League last night for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. The Red Headed League is the story we‘re going to discuss this weekend. Now, I‘m ready to participate in the discussion of the story.

I‘ve read the first 3 stories in the Sherlock Holmes short story collection for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong and I decided to listen to plot summaries of them on YouTube because I didn‘t understand anything that was going on. I don‘t know why I didn‘t think about doing this to begin with. I like the writing and the setting. I like Holmes & Watson. I just don‘t understand what‘s going on when I‘m reading the stories.

I was playing this free game on my iPad called Cryptogram where you have to solve word puzzles and all of the puzzles I solved tonight on this game have all been from Sherlock Holmes. I haven‘t read any of the short stories that these quotes are from. I thought it was interesting that the game kept having me solve Sherlock Holmes word puzzles and now, it‘s not doing that anymore. Does the game know I‘m reading Sherlock Holmes?

Tonight, I started and finished A Scandal In Bohemia which is the next short story in this short story collection with Watson and Holmes. It was very short. It was only 3 chapters so now, I‘m ready for the discussion of this story for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. Feel free to join the readalong anytime if you‘re interested in reading Sherlock Holmes. He solves mysteries with his friend Watson. I think they work really well together.

I started playing a free game on my iPad called Cryptogram where I‘m trying to guess the phrases in each level and I had to guess this phrase. I don‘t remember Holmes saying this to Watson. I had to think about this for awhile and use 1 or 2 Hints to guess this phrase but I got it. I know Holmes and Watson are friends but what does Elementary mean in this phrase? Does it have something to do with elements?
