Does anyone else search for / create playlists to fit the vibe of the book you're reading? I can't read in silence and I love finding people who had the same idea as me. This one is just 🤌💋
Snow day number FIVE tomorrow. 😳 I am officially in hibernation mode, you guys. This is my 3rd winter in the Midwest and I am still shocked by the prolonged, bitter cold. You would also think that they would employ more snow plows, but I haven't seen one in three days...
I thought this picture was funny because I poured myself a drink when I got the snow day text and, as soon as I got cozy on the couch with it, Mars jumped up to take a sip. 🤣
POV: It's -32 wind chill outside, a doggie sensory video is playing in the background to distract the dogs from the fact that it's been over a week since they could go on a walk, the peanut butter cookies made on a whim last night after the Chiefs won absolutely slap, and there's nothing but time to finish this absolute gem of a book 🤍
I have to admit, I have never read Great Expectations. Victorian literature has always scared me for some reason (being forced to read Wuthering Heights the summer before my sophomore year and taking a test on the first day of school may have caused a little disdain for the time period as a whole), BUT I'm love this one so far. I look forward to spending the rest of my day in Dickens' world.
I‘m so glad to have finally read Great Expectations, it‘s been on my tbr forever. With memorable characters, drama, hilarity, adventure, friendship, romance and a moral to the story — what‘s not to love? Ok, it was serialized, so it‘s occasionally a bit drawn out but it is fun to imagine what reading it must have been like when everyone was waiting for installments. My favorite character was dear Joe Gargery, who brought to mind Rebeus Hagrid.
Hey y‘all, if you‘re a fan of Dickens like me, you may want to watch this.
I guess that would be Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I've tried many times to read this book but I always stop after a quarter in. So, I kinda read it. Lol

I listened to the audiobook of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I enjoyed the narrator of the book. I had read the book a long time ago and I wanted to re-read the book. I read this book as a part of the 32 books mentioned or read by Dr. Spencer Reid of the Criminal Minds show. I rated the book a 4 out of 5 stars!!!
Thanks 🙏 for the tag @EadieB #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 1. I used to like moody books ( before the pandemic) 2. I think the tagged book is very moody - but it‘s a favourite Tagging all.Littens who would like to play. 💚🐉
Been away a bit, but I'm January I read Great Expectations, and really enjoyed it. Will read more Dickens in the future.
Happy 210th birthday to Charles Dickens, a total literary legend. This is one of my favorites by him!
I put together a list of books by and about Dickens, as well as media adaptations and touristy spots: www.instagram.com/p/CZsFXC_vNmZ/
Ever since I first read Dickens's "A tale of two cities" two years ago, I have regarded him as the guy who puts me to sleep. But, since I have begun reading "Great Expectations", I have realised how funny he is. Dickens also uses this dramatic imagery alluding supernatural forces at work. It's quite exciting and I am looking forward to how it all turns out.
The first unabridged Dickens that I have read since childhood, and I am glad that I picked it.
Great novelists speak to us across ages and time zones. Thats what Dickens does. One starts feeling for Pip through his ups and downs while growing up, love Joe's innocent giant heart and can undertand why Miss Havisham and Estella are so harsh and cold. Dickens goes into the depth of his characters and also where they come from. A masterpiece indeed.
Last week I found my Grandma's copy of Great Expectations gifted to her by her Dad in 1947 and today I found this beautiful copy of the same book. I've never read it but I'm so looking forward to reading it the same way my grandma did 74 years ago.
