From one of Amazon's short story collections of modern fairy tales and retellings. If this was a retelling, it was a fairy tale that I didn't recognize. It was just okay. The world building was really vague. I understand that short stories are a little more mysterious in that way due to the length but by the end I still had a ton of questions. I might try another story from this collection as they are written by different authors.

Short and sweet, modern fairytale complete with Starbucks, smart phones with 3 camera lens and climate change. Slightly unsettling in the way that fairytales often are.

A sweet love story of sorts, but an ending I didn't care for. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I just watched the first episode of a very disturbing documentary and cried with my cat. Now I need a mental/ emotional palette cleanser. Hopefully this will be short, sweet, and happy. #CatsOfLitsy

An interesting allegory. A commentary on climate change and technology... on modern comforts and what we're willing to sacrifice for them.

Rainbow Rowell is usually an auto-buy/auto-read author for me, but this one felt devoid of the usual warmth her stories carry; her refreshingly realistic dialogue skills missing.

I haven't posted in a while but I plan on improving that. Welcome to 2021. Its been a fairly good January and an excellent start to my 2021 challenge 😊

Thanks to Litsy, I discovered Rainbow Rowell and I was so excited to see she contributed a modern fairytale to this Amazon collection available through #KindleUnlimited! But, while I enjoyed listening, I really just wanted it to be something more. I don‘t really gravitate to short stories and while this is recognizably Rowell, I just didn‘t find it very satisfying. I‘ve seen mixed reviews of the collection so I m stopping here! #AudioColoring

Well I didnt know this book was only like 30 pages. I really enjoyed it. There were really only two characters and one setting. I cant wait to finish the other 4 in the series.

Starting in on a collection of short stories called the Faraway Collection I got on Kindle Unlimited. They are all retellings of fairy tales from popular authors and they are all pretty short. I cant wait to enjoy these.

Short story free on Amazon prime. Enjoyed the story and it was well written, but I didn‘t understand the ending.

Not my favorite Rowell, but a fun, fantastical escape! I especially loved the inclusion of Starbucks -- prob because I get obsessed with cozy drinks this time of year. I'll likely dip back into Amazon's Faraway collection when I need something short.

Forgot to post over the weekend, but I did participate in #24b4Monday. Only six hours, but considering it was Christmas, I feel pretty good about it!

Kind of a twilight zone/ fairy tale/ YA short story. Not exactly what I was expecting, but well worth the time it took to read.

I don't know what fairy tale this is supposed to be loosely based on, but I thought this fast paced short story was cute and kinda sweet. Oh, and I got a good chuckle out of the Starbucks bits.
