I loved this book.fantastic sci fi adventure in space. characters I loved. Got this out off Veronica Roth‘s recommendation at the end of the year and it was a winner. Looking forward to book 2! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Got 28% in and just couldn't connect. Part of it is that I'm so, so tired of: men failing up into achievement, the rejected rich kid reactionary twit, and obnoxious people getting a pass because they're just misunderstood geniuses. I think the "big secret thing" in the royal kid's past should have been revealed much sooner (didn't get to it by a third of the book in at least) to have a chance at connecting with such an off-putting character.
Someone convinced me to read this saying that it was as good as The Expanse. Spoiler alert: it was not. Very little character development, a confusing plot, poor world building. I'd have DNFed if I'd been reading the print. As it was, I turned the audio to 2.4 and slogged through. Narrators were pretty good at least.
Book 7 #rushathon
@DieAReader @Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES
First book in a duology. Spaceships, fast paced, dual POV, aliens, some science, some fights, small crew needs to save the fleet, or much more? Enjoyed the #audiobook so much, I've started book two right away.
In other news, I finished the bookish scarf. Based on the books I read in the first quarter of the year. It's nearly 4 metres long (12 feet).

🎧 Down to Earth royalty needs to prove himself on the edge of the universe at a boring post manned mostly by the dregs of humanity.
And then the universe starts contracting & it‘s a mad dash to stay ahead of the devastation and solve the mystery.
Great space opera.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Expanse meets GoT indeed—out on the farthest reaches of the galaxy, where the edge of space fades into nothing—the Divide—a ragtag group of criminals & court-martialed soldiers are tasked with watching over it. It‘s the most boring posting/punishment ever…until…the Divide starts collapsing & taking everything with it. The race is on—to stay alive & find out exactly what is happening. If you like space opera, this is a good one.
#WeekendReading
Ok, this weekend I have a plan, and I‘m sticking to it! 🤞
The Last Watch is a super fun read and I hope to finish it today. Then it‘ll be on to Murder in the Marais—I‘m always on the lookout for good books for my Mom and I think this series might be one she would like. And then, if all goes to plan, Sleepwalk.
@Andrew65
I was sold as soon as I saw this book described as “The Expanse meets Game of Thrones.” I definitely see the former in the first couple of chapters, still waiting to see the latter. It‘s all good and I‘m looking forward to spending this cold, snowy evening in the farthest reaches of the universe! 🚀🪐✨
A well-written space opera with characters that are easy to cheer for.
Great space opera sci-fi. A crew is cut off from any help at the literal end of the universe. Good character development as well.
Bonus Sunday afternoon book mail—after it was mistakenly delivered to a neighbor who kindly dropped it off—is pretty awesome.
#Bk11Of2021 for #November was this 1st book in the Divide series. A SciFi novel, it‘s a brilliant start to a story of humanity‘s last defenders against a collapsing universe being the dregs of its military, criminals & a species of aliens supposedly wiped out in the last war. I thought it was brilliant, the sequel is also on my #21BooksOf2021 list. #12BooksOf2021
This book is my pick for best of April 2021. Loved the characters in this space opera. Look forward to reading the next book in the series.

So many new books in the #AudibleSale …
My bank account just threw in the towel. 😄
I still spend more & get much less when I walk into B&N … is that a justification … idk … maybe 😳 … but I love B&N! ❤️ I see an Amazon Sale, buy 2 books get a 3rd book free or something like that … must stay strong.

Bk4 of November & Bk1 of #NovelNovember #AnyWayYouReadathon & #33by33 #readathon is done. I loved this book! Set at the edge of the universe, a decommissioned 200yr old spaceship & its crew of misfits & courtmartialed soldiers are the only thing standing between humanity & the blackness called the Divide which is now threatening to swallow the universe whole.The 1st in a new series, I can‘t wait to read the next! #Doublespin bk of #BookspinBingo👇
Just started this one yesterday and am enjoying it so far. Not my usual type of book but I wanted to try something different. Fingers crossed that I continue to like it.
I enjoyed the characters. They came off subtle but still had staying power. Cav gave me Starlord vibes (but a little more cinnamon roll like) which I was not mad at.
I liked how much build up was created for future plot points to come in other books. The world was complex. I loved that the world building happened over the length of the book. Educate me along the way, I'm here for it.
This is a debut novel that reads with all the sophistication of a seasoned writer. The first in a series, it ia an epic Sci-Fi adventure with a group of misfits and castoffs that are forced to save the universe. 5⭐ Read my full review on my blog at www.thespineview.com
