From New York Times bestselling Mind MGMT creator Matt Kindt comes an exciting and new undersea sci-fi mystery. Mia is a special investigator hired to uncover possible sabotage taking place at a deep-sea research station. What she uncovers is a mind-blowing crime scene filled with suspects with terrible secrets, strange deep-sea creatures, and an impending flood! Praise for the previous work of Matt Kindt: "Kindt is a storyteller so fully in control of his gifts that his graphic novels read like quietly compelling arguments for the comics medium's narrative potential." -NPR "Kindt has developed into one of the most exciting and original talents in the business" -The LA Times "Kindt breaks all pre-conceived notions of what comic books are." -IGN

The premise really drew me in. However, there was lots of character back stories rather than crime investigation. I still really enjoyed it. I read these on Hoopla. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the reading experience was on a device. You are able to click and read one panel at a time. Books 35, 37, 40, 41. 4⭐️

Tracyantoon I love his watercolors! I have quite a few Matt Kindt graphic novels on my TBR. 5y

A locked room mystery with sci-fi (and supernatural?) elements set in a deep sea research station? Um, yes, please and thank you!

A murder mystery set in at the bottom of the ocean, where darkness and uncertainty is normal. I really like Dept. H so far. It's intriguing and kind of odd at times but it works. I am not too fond of the drawing style but the use of the watercolors worked really well for the story and it's atmosphere. I look forward to seeing what vol. 2 has in store.

I found volume 1 and 2 at my library so I decided to give them a shot. A murder mystery in the depths of the ocean, sounds pretty amazing.

I really liked this one. I‘m intrigued about where the story is going and who the murderer is. I have already put volumes 2 and 3 (out end of January) on hold. The art is interesting and the depth of the sea lends itself to strangeness. Did you see the sea spiders in my last post? 😳

WTF?! Sea Spiders that can mimic speech. This made me think of the vines in The Ruins.

Everyone is unhappy with Mia‘s arrival to investigate a murder. It looks like they are all giving her a death stare.

Really enjoying this series about Mia, who is sent to an underwater research facility to solve the murder of her scientist father. Among the suspects are her brother and several friends/family friends.

I cannot overstate how much I love Dept. H and the cover art is just the fantastic icing on the cake when it comes to this series!

It's been a long and tiring week/month and I'm unwinding with some comics catching up.

My 1st #recommendsday is Dept. H., the story of a brilliant family of scientists: the father who ran the undersea research lab where he was killed; the son who worked in the lab with his father; and the daughter who has to investigate her father's death & can't ethically automatically remove her brother as a suspect. All the suspects are sequestered & one strong woman is determined to find the killer. Clues scattered throughout for us to solve it.

Carol @Ebooksandcooks for your consideration! It's a brand new ongoing series but maybe consider for the future once the story has finished & you can read them together without waiting a month between single issue. 8y
Eyelit I love Matt Kintd! Didn't know abut this one, glad to have something new to look for. 😃 8y
Megabooks @Carol That sounds good!! Thank for thinking of me 😃😃 8y

Read the new comic series Junot Diaz is raving about. Issues 1-3 are out now. Trade comes out the end of the year, I believe.
