The creep factor was high in this final installment of the Small Spaces series with a funhouse, clowns, and dolls to give anyone the heebie jeebies. Sadly, that was just about it. I was disappointed as there were no answers given to who The Smiling Man was or what motivated him. The conclusion felt too easy and came about too fast. Still, I enjoyed the series and overall it was creepy good fun.
The first two books were the best. The third had pacing issues which became catastrophic in this one. It was going along just fine, and then it was just…over. The final 20 pages should have been about 50. The clowns were less creepy than I expected (good, I loathe clowns) and the Smiling Man was too (not good, he‘s the villain!). #52Books #meanttoreadlastyear

I started this MG series last year. This is the last one and personally, my favorite.
Arden does such a wonderful job of writing a creepy story that is appropriate for younger readers but also entertaining for readers of all ages.
I loved the carnival setting in this one and the scary clowns. Such a fun read!
The boyfriend and I went and saw this yesterday. What a creepy movie starring Sosie Bacon (Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick‘s daughter). Definitely creepy and I have so many thoughts now. #scarathlon #TeamMonsterMash +6 pts

Good week, with 216 words for the weekly game, five books read, and a few bingo lines, including this one for #bookspinbingo woohoo! The tagged book was the final book in a quick and easy and very creepy middle grade series. If anyone needs scary clowns in their life or bingo boards, this will work for you!
Soft spoilers ahead.
Best part of the series, if you ask me! Of course, all were good, but I especially enjoyed this one pretty much. How much those kids have grown! How dear they grew to me and how proud I am of them! Also, Arden managed to finish her series almost perfectly. It's a heart-warming ending, but if she decides to continue - no problem.
Warning: if you suffer from Coulrophobia don't read.
A good book and the final in the series 😢

Finale to the Small Spaces quartet. The first book remains my favorite. The ending kind of snuck up on me with this one. Felt a bit rushed. Still a fun middle grade series if you are in the mood for something cozy and mildly spooky.
I absolutely loved this series and I'm pretty sad it's over. It definitely will be disappointing not having another one of these books to look forward to next summer. This one was probably my least favorite of the three but I still really liked it. I recommend the whole series. Read them in order but here's the list of my favorites to least favorites in the series:
1) Dark Waters
2) Small Spaces
3) Dead Voices
4) Empty Smiles
Damn it. I‘ve been reading the Small Spaces books, waiting for the last one to come out (9 August) - only to find out it‘s clowns. (It says sinister clowns, but that‘s just redundant) Now I have to decide if it‘s worth suffering clowns to get to the ending. Grrr.
